Review:
5 Stars!
“I was completely breathless at the sight of her.”
I just want to start off by saying that I
absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE male POVs!! So, I was beyond excited when I found out
Breathless was going to be narrated
from TATE’S point of view! Squeee!!! And boy oh boy, I was NOT disappointed. In
fact, Rachel Brookes managed to make me fall even more in love with him! I, once again, fell victim to the #TateConnorsEffect.
“If it was the last thing I did on this planet
I would make sure Savannah knew I was hers and hers only.”
This novella picked up the storyline right
where Just Breathe left off. If you
haven’t read book one, I suggest you stop reading this review and hop to
it. It’s truly AMAZING and you have
to read it before this one.
Rachel Brookes kicked things off with quite a
devastated Tate. He was trying to get through his days while missing his newly
pregnant girlfriend. Sav, had left for NY where she would spend the next month
working. The time difference between LA and NY and their busy work schedules
made it nearly impossible for Tate and Sav to be able to communicate properly.
They barely even texted…and that did
NOT sit well with Tate. So being the wonderful boyfriend that he is, he hoped on
a plane and surprised Sav in NY.
“I never knew a love like this could exist.”
You would think
things would go smoothly for them. But no. Even though they had a lot going for
them, they had a lot against them, too. Their insecurities and doubts still had
power over them. Tate, especially, was scared shitless at the thought of being
the type of father his dad was or rather, wasn’t. He simply couldn’t bear to do
that to Sav or their baby. He felt like he needed to try and fix some issues
from his past, in order to have a bright and secure future alongside Sav and
their Jellybean. This idea did not sit well with everyone. After all, the past
was already making its presence known in their lives, so why go digging into it
and making things worse, right?
“You are everything to me, Sav, and if it
takes me until my last breath, I will prove to you what you mean to me.”
“You are so worth all of this, Sav. Every mile
I travel. Every penny I spend, every hour of sleep I lose, and every moment you
leave me breathless. You make everything worth it.”
I LOVE angst in books, and Rachel sure did an
amazing job writing some angst-driven scenes!!! Which brings me to me next
point. Chelsea. Grrrrr!!! What a PSYCHO!!! I swear, this girl had NO SHAME!
Couldn’t she take a hint??? Geez!! If Rachel wants to write a scene in book
three about Chelsea falling down an elevator shaft, I wouldn’t object! Hell, I’d
celebrate! I’m telling you, anyone in their right state mind would celebrate
with me! Well, anyway…moving along now.
This was a fantastic sequel! There was a smokin’ hot romance, passion, angst,
humor, and finally, heartbreak (hint! hint!). Basically, what is
there NOT to love about Breathless? It
had a little bit of everything that makes up a phenomenal read! Personally, I
absolutely adored it! Tate and Sav are one of my favorite book couples!!
“You are my future, Savannah Rae.”
I’m very much looking forward to book three, Breathe Again, and it isn’t coming soon
enough!! I already have a few theories regarding certain things left unanswered
(plot-wise) and I can’t wait to see how they play out. Rachel is one of my
favorite authors so, I’m excited (and way
too curious for my own well-being) to see what she has up her sleeves! She IS
sneaky, after all. ;)
“I knew she was mine, but the idea of making
her fall in love with me time and time again was what I lived for.”
Oh, and Rachel, PLEASE write a Jack and Tanzi
novella!!!??!!! Please!!? *puppy eyes*

The Breathe Series
Just Breathe
(Breathe #1)
For Savannah Rae, living life without her parents was unimaginable. But being blamed for her first love’s suicide? That destroyed every part of who she was.
Gone were the days of innocence, happiness, and dreams. Now her days simply meant attempting to survive. In her mind, her only means for that was replacing her grief with men, booze and the fast life. And for five years, it worked.
When an opportunity to leave the nightmares of her past in Australia opens up, she takes it. Los Angeles beckons - with hopes of late nights, new beginnings, and the promise of a string of endless men to distract her, she can’t wait to dive in.
One thing she didn’t count on was meeting her match.
In the eyes of outsiders, Tate Connors has it all; the ultimate LA bachelor who is content with his lifestyle of wild nights, women and one night stands. He's Mr. Unpredictable with looks that could destroy any woman with one glance.
The craziness of Los Angeles throws them into the chaotic path of each other. Savannah becomes the perfect game, and Tate becomes the ultimate prey. Lines are crossed, emotions are smashed, and the idea of who they truly are begins to be tangled.
However, one thing will become clear.
They are more alike than either one could ever have imagined.
