Guest Review and EXCLUSIVE Interview!! "Just Breathe" by Rachel Brookes

(The Breathe Series, Book 1)
Synopsis:

For Savannah Rae, living life without her parents was unimaginable. But being blamed for her first love’s suicide? That destroyed every part of who she was.

Gone were the days of innocence, happiness, and dreams. Now her days simply meant attempting to survive. In her mind, her only means for that was replacing her grief with men, booze and the fast life. And for five years, it worked.

When an opportunity to leave the nightmares of her past in Australia opens up, she takes it. Los Angeles beckons - with hopes of late nights, new beginnings, and the promise of a string of endless men to distract her, she can’t wait to dive in.

One thing she didn’t count on was meeting her match.

In the eyes of outsiders, Tate Connors has it all; the ultimate LA bachelor who is content with his lifestyle of wild nights, women and one night stands. He's Mr. Unpredictable with looks that could destroy any woman with one glance.

The craziness of Los Angeles throws them into the chaotic path of each other. Savannah becomes the perfect game, and Tate becomes the ultimate prey. Lines are crossed, emotions are smashed, and the idea of who they truly are begins to be tangled.

However, one thing will become clear.

They are more alike than either one could ever have imagined.

Review:
5 Stars

I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!
Really.
That's all there is to it.
Loved it.

“Life will throw you curveballs. Life may try and destroy you, but what matters most is that life will also be beautiful, astonishing, overwhelming and adventurous. It’s yours to live.”

I think that quote pretty much sums up the overall feel of this book. I was struck with so many emotions while reading Just Breathe. The book was a total adventure, an adventure that I will be embarking on again and again.

“Don’t be afraid to feel. Don’t be afraid to live.”

Tate and Sav... *sigh* *swoon*

“My body felt like it had been hit by a freight train, and my breath escaped my chest when my eyes first landed on him.”

“Eyes that were the bluest of blue were watching me. They were the kind of eyes that would make you forget about everything around you, the type of eyes that you would get lost in, the type of eyes that would be able to make you do anything and everything without thought or inhibition or consequence. They were the dangerous type of eyes.”

Can I have a Tate? He is so dreamy!

I love that this book was NOT about a flawless romance with a perfect knight in shining armor guy and whiny virgin. Tate and Sav are flawed, they are both broken. Together, they seem to piece themselves slowly back together.

“I know that you are overtaking my mind. I want you like I’ve never wanted anyone else before, and I can’t get enough of you and that to me is perfect. You are perfect.”

Not only did I fall in love with Tate and Sav, but with all the supporting characters as well. I felt like I was there with all of them through the whole story.

Oh and did I mention that this book is HOT HOT HOT!
I will forever live with the Tate Connors Effect after reading this book. I am so ready to see what the future has in store for Tate and Sav.

Rachel Brookes writes sexy angst perfectly. She is brilliant. :)

XOXO,
Jodie

EXCLUSIVE Interview for
HEA BOOK SHELF

1.  Have you always known you wanted to be a writer? What first inspired you to write?

I have always had an urge to write. I remember spending my weekends writing short stories for my dad on his typewriter when I was young. I was writing poetry and lyrics during my teenager years and I always felt more comfortable expressing myself via written word so I always knew that it was something that I wanted to do.

Life experiences inspired me to first write. There are definitely topics in Just Breathe that are very personal to me which allowed me to express myself in a personal yet very public forum. It’s very therapeutic. I think everything that I release with have an element of myself in it. I love being able to provide readers with a place where they can escape, characters that they feel connected to and scenes that inspire an emotion. That to me inspires me to write.

2. What is one thing you can't live without while writing? (Laptop is a given haha)

Music! Definitely music. I cannot write in silence so I always have music or the television playing in the background. I am obsessed with spotify and have numerous playlists created for my current WIP and future planned releases.

3. Tell us a fun fact that readers may not know about you!

When I was a teenager I was in a band with a friend and my cousin and I played drums and sung.

4. You are very interactive with readers and other authors on social media sites. Do you think social media plays a big part in the success of indie authors?

Social media is massive in the success of indie authors. It has allowed me to meet some of the best people from every corner of the globe and connect with fellow enthusiasts of this community. I have made so many close friends and I know that if it wasn’t for the indie community that I probably would never had met them. Indie writers could not do what they do without the support of bloggers, readers and other authors. I love connecting with readers, bloggers and other authors…. Basically I just like to talk.

5. A little bird tells me you are planning a big trip to the states next year. What are you looking forward to most about your trip?

Yes I am coming to the USA the end of April through May and so far I am visiting New York City, Chicago and Austin but I am sure there will be other cities added. I cannot wait to be surrounded by accents, meet as many people as I can and also get some inspiration for future releases I have planned. I have made some amazing friends through my writing and I cannot wait to give them all koala hugs and swoon at their accents. If you haven’t realized I absolutely LOVE accents.

6. What is your favorite part of living in Australia?

I love the laid back attitude and easy going lifestyle that living in Australia allows me to have.

7. Do you use any real life experiences as inspiration for your writing?

Definitely. There are certain scenes in Just Breathe and also in Breathless that are based on real life experiences. They let me have a giggle or cry while I write but it also makes the scenes more realistic to read. I often wonder if people realize what is based on real life.

8. If you had to describe your life right now in a quote, what quote would you use?

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”

9. Other than writing about feisty Aussie girls and sexy American guys, what do you like to do in your free time? What are your hobbies?

Obviously reading is number one…. No matter how busy I am or how late it is I can’t sleep unless I read. I spend loads of time with my amazing family and I also love photography, I am known amongst my family of the person who will always take way too many photos.
