Cover Reveal: "Keeping King" by Anne Jolin

Author: Anne Jolin
Genre: Erotic Romance
Series: Rock Falls #4
***Can be read as a standalone or as part of the Rock Falls series.***

Peyton Callaghan is a fighter, a survivor, a warrior. When it was kill or be killed, she didn’t hesitate. Now, she’s the only one left standing, haunted by the ghost of a dead man and plagued with the guilt of having taken another person’s life. The upheaval of her life to start over in Rock Falls has been rocky at best, her worst nightmares and wildest desires colliding with each other. Terror tortures her nightly, breeding fear inside her dreams, and in every waking moment, she fights against the lust that threatens to drown her.

Jayden King harbors secrets beneath his outward playboy demeanor. The women who warm his bed lay claim to nothing—you can’t lay claim to someone who doesn’t have a heart. His wit and charm are exquisite means of deflection and distraction from the turmoil roaring inside him. He’s hidden in plain sight, a mask of humor keeping the sadness at bay. The only real reflections of his soul are in the artwork he creates, pieces of him muraled on the skin of others. If tattoo artists could have a calling card, the etch of pain and suffering in each design would be his. Because when the lights go out and the women he’s satisfied have gone home, he’s alone with every fear he refuses to face.

After suffering from a brutal attack at the hands of her roommate’s stalker, Peyton is forced to live with the object of her affection. Without intention, she breathes love into his starved heart, and although the mere thought of that terrifies him, Jayden would burn the city down to keep her safe, causalities be damned.

Some people you have. Some people you hold.

She can have him. She can hold him. But can she keep King? Or is it impossible for Callaghan to keep something that was never really hers to begin with?

Beth Rhodes has always had a game plan. Go to college. Get the perfect job. Get the perfect guy. Get the happily ever after she's always wanted. It is just her luck that everything falls into its precise place in her life. At least it seems that way until her blueprints go up in smoke. She loses the job she loves and her price charming is turning out to be the villain of her fairytale instead. With failures and mistakes piling up on her doorstep, she knows something has to give—or she could very well end up paying for those mistakes with her life.

Braxton Bennett is lethal, both in the courtroom and in the ring. Two sides of him constantly wage war against one another, and to keep the internal bloodshed at bay, he allows himself to indulge in his violent vice. Suit by day and brawler by night aren’t easy dual lives to manage for a man of his status. The only way to do so is by following a strict set of rules—rules he won’t break for anyone. But what if he already has?

On a summer night in the depths of the city, a chance encounter will turn both of their perfectly constructed worlds upside down.

Will they battle together against all odds to break Bennett’s rules? Or will Rhodes tap out to save herself before the fight is over?

~ Anne Jolin ~
I’m twenty four years old. I was born and raised in Ladner, a small farm town just outside of Vancouver, Canada. I grew up riding horses, shooting guns and riding in trucks. I’ve been married to my handsome redneck husband for a year and we are parents to our chocolate fur baby, Bear. No kiddo’s yet! I am completely and utterly obsessed with country music, you will constantly find me stalking iTunes. If you don’t find me on iTunes, you’ll find me on Netflix because I am a self proclaimed movie junkie. Yes, that means that I quote them constantly in daily conversation and my characters do too! You couldn’t keep me away from a good action movie if you tried. I’m also a planning nut. I love to plan parties, events, trips – you name it! I don’t know if that’s considered a real hobby, but it is for me.

We were fortunate enough to travel a lot as a family growing up, and I think that helped spark my love of reading. I’m half Viking, my mom is Danish, and her entire side of the family still lives in Denmark. We’d visit them almost once a year, every year and it’s a nine hour flight. That’s a lot of uninterrupted time to read (or in my parent’s case, entertain four children – Yikes!). Somewhere along the way my love of reading, became a love of writing. I wrote short stories when I was younger, and although I majored in Business Management at college, I took as many English electives I could get my hands on.

During the day I work at my family construction company wearing a variety of different hats and at night, I write! I had never thought about writing books before, but after a few suggestions that I should try, I decided to give it a go. I loved it instantly! Having always been a creative person, it felt amazing to harness all that energy and use it to tell a story. Now, quite frankly it’s all I can think about, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m grateful to have developed my love of reading into a passion for writing. You’ll be seeing many more books from me in the future!

Book Review + GIVEAWAY: "Sex, Desires & Rock n' Roll by Michelle Lee

Author: Michelle Lee
He holds me captive with his brilliant blue eyes.

His crooked smile melts me every time.

His voice wraps around me when he sings
His words break through and dive straight to my heart.

Dash Ford, lead singer of Redemption, is unlike any man I’ve ever met and I'm drawn to not only his lyrics but the man behind the voice.

But I am broken—beyond broken.

I had no intention of falling for him. But when we met, I had no other option. With him, I embrace the present while trying to put my past behind me. I find myself in a world I never expected, a world I’m not entirely sure I can handle.

Am I strong enough?

Will I be enough for a man who has everything?

Can I finally let go and give into the love I’ve wanted my whole life? Or will my past forever define and haunt me, keeping me from all I desire?

~ 4 stars ~
Sex, Desires & Rock n’ Roll by Michelle Lee was not like most of the Rocker Romances out there. Unlike many, this book wasn’t full of angst or unrealistic drama. The issues Dash and Jules – the main characters – faced were very much real-life situations that many people live through on a daily basis.

Jules had finally escaped a horrible nightmare – her abusive ex-boyfriend. To say she was emotionally broken would be an understatement. Her ex, Blake, robbed her of any and all confidence and self-esteem she could’ve had. He destroyed her. After several months of starting over, her best friends convinced her to go with them to a concert. Little did Jules know, that night would change her life in many ways.

Dash was the lead singer of Redemption, the band Jules and her friends went to see. The second Jules heard his voice, she was a goner. His lyrics reached into her soul and it was as if he got her. She felt like he could see her…really see her.

Given the fact that Jules’ bff did the PR for Redemption, they all got to visit with the band backstage after the concert. And so, Jules and Dash met face-to-face. Since that very first night, Dash proved to be everything Jules needed in her life. He calmed her, completed her, and gave light to her very dark days. He was perfect for her. Thing is, without knowing it, Jules in many ways saved Dash as well. You see, he too, had his inner demons and guilt he battled with every day.

My heart ached for Jules and Dash and all the pain they carried. They were relatable and down to earth characters and I loved how well they connected. The overall storyline leaned more towards the emotional side of things and I liked how it all progressed. Towards the ending, I could see a cliffhanger coming, and sure enough I was right. Once Dash left for a European tour, Jules’ worst nightmare became a reality. Suffice it to say, I’m looking forward to the next installment in this series! Four stars to Sex, Desires & Rock n’ Roll by Michelle Lee.

Book Tour: Something Reckless by Lexi Ryan

Title: Something Reckless
Author: Lexi Ryan
Genre: Adult Contemporary Romance
Series: Reckless and Real #1

He talks dirty to me, but I don’t know his name.

He wants to tie me up, but I don’t know his face.

He turns me on, but I couldn’t point him out in a crowd.

I’ve fallen for an anonymous stranger, and now the anonymity ends. I want more than typed secrets and texted promises. I want something reckless. Heat. Passion. The thrill of being entirely possessed.

Because I suspect this anonymous stranger isn’t a stranger at all.

Lizzy Thompson met riverrat69 online through a service promising to deliver meaningful relationships by forbidding its users to share names or photos until they’ve reached a certain benchmark. She was looking for love. He was researching an investment. They hit it off. Talked and flirted, hid behind screen names and cartoon avatars.

Now they’re breaking the rules and meeting in person. But Liz is prepared. She’s picked up hints and followed clues. She’s nearly convinced she’s discovered the identity of her dirty-talking online friend.

She wonders if her ex-lover Sam Bradshaw knows her identity too.
When she rolls the dice on one reckless night, her chance at something real could crumble.

5 Stars

Once again, Lexi Ryan has spun a story that leaves you on the edge of your seat, biting your nails in anticipation of what is going to happen!!
So many twists.
So many turns.
What you thought you knew, you apparently did NOT.

We got to know a little more of Sam at the end of Lexi's Here and Now Series, and he was a sexy-no-strings-attached kinda man.

~No one can tell me I lead women on to get sex. I've never needed to. I take women to bed without any promises and make damn sure they don't regret it. I don't do commitment or forever, and I don't hide it.~

Lizzy is the other half of Hanna. The twin with the body and the beauty, full of life and fun. Everything had to be easy for her, right? She was able to get by and she is just happy the way she is....or so we think.

~All my life, I've been the fun one, the wild one. The stupid one. No one takes me seriously.~
~But looks have never been my problem. My insecurities are about what's on the inside.~

I loved seeing the growth of these two characters. I loved getting inside their heads and going through all the emotions they were. Foreign and common.
It was all there. And the way it all played out; superb.

Lizzy was trying to find her way in the world after leaving the job she had. She needed to find a job that she wanted that fulfilled her, but she was also looking for Mr. Right. She knew what she had in the past, but knew that what she had wasn't possible anymore. She was determined to find him

With a political family dictating life as he should live it, Sam has to adhere to certain expectations. Those expectations seem to be getting in the way of who he thought he wasn' can HE fall in love with someone?? That isn't who HE is....or is it? Well, guess what Mister!!! Sam is a Mr. Right!!! He was so swoony sexy hot lickable yummy. Yes....all that and more.

I couldn't put this book down. I was nervous for Lizzy and Sam, I was excited and I was blown away. I really needed them to realize they were meant to be....they were just so perfect!!

The pull, the draw.....the pure sensual intensity between these two is so palpable. Moth to flame. It was just so angsty and good!! I loved it. I couldn't get enough of these two. Their time together was so sacred and pure and it was SUPER HOT....just ridiculously sexy. Not over the top, drawn out scenes, but purely seductive and intimate. The feelings....oh gosh, the feelings I felt between the two of them was absolutely beautiful.

Of course, with every good story, there is some drama. And unfortunately, this drama was *NOT* their was crazy how a little thought or misconception can turn into a HUGE problem.

~I don't want to go back there, to that kind of vulnerability. Not for anything. Except for her. I might just go back for Liz. Because once a woman owns a man's heart, it never really returns to him.~

I know that their love will see them through, but I am eagerly anticipating the next book REALLY bad. Like.....REALLY bad. As I saw everything play out, from the outside looking in, I just knew that they were going to have some questions to answer to. Sadly, this was the perfect example of how things play out when we only have half the story and we are in the middle of it all. Lexi Ryan has a way to spin a story and make you fall deep into the storyline and be immersed in all the happenings surrounding her characters. I love that she keeps me teetering on the edge with all her it!

~We don't get to choose who owns our heart and we don't get to choose who has the power to break it.~

“You look amazing in this dress. I’'e been pretending all night that there’s something I want to do more than get you out of it.”

“What would you do with me if you got so lucky?”

“I’d keep you up all night, for starters.” He slides a hand into my hair and traces the side of my neck with his thumb. His groan rumbles through me. “Tell me what you came here for.”

I thought that was pretty clear. “I’m wearing extremely slutty underwear. What do you think?”

His nostrils flare and his breathing goes thready. “I think I’m going to have to up my game, because now I want to see it.”

I have to bite back a smile. “Good,” I say. My heart thumps out a beat, probably Morse code for please and thank you.

“How slutty is this underwear of yours?”

I lick my lips. “Oh, it’s damn near whorish.”

“Let me see it, Liz.”

I lift my chin and prop my hands on my hips. “Seriously? That’s all the seduction I get? Let me see it?”

He steps closer until I have to crane my neck to look at him, and holy hell he smells good. “What game are we playing here, Rowdy?” he murmurs against my ear. “Is this the one where we pretend we don’t want each other and sleep alone . . .” His fingers skim down my shoulder and my eyes float closed. “Or is it the one where I make you come so hard you scream my name and tomorrow you act like you want nothing to do with me?”

“Are those my only choices?” I ask, but I keep my eyes closed, focusing on the feel of his rough fingers dancing across my skin. The truth is, I don’t want to play either game. I’m done playing games when it comes to Sam. I’m done pretending I don’t want him when I do, and I’m done pretending our annual one-night stand is enough for me.

“Tell me you aren't going to run away in the morning. Promise me you won’t shut me out again.”

I don’t know what that means, and I’m too scared to analyze it. My eyes are still closed when he takes my chin in his fingers and tilts my face up to his, still closed when he brushes his lips over mine and when I open under him because I’m helpless to this man’s kiss.

“Promise me,” he repeats.

“I won’t run away.” Then I unzip my dress and let it fall to the floor in a puddle, and my boldness is rewarded. Sam’s lips part and his breath escapes him in a rush.

He steps back and takes me in. The bra is strapless, black lace demi-cups that lift my breasts until they threaten to spill out. The panties—what there is of them—are a thong in matching black lace. Their fine lace straps sit in a sharp V high on my hipbones.

A ringlet of hair escaped my up-do, and he takes it between his fingers and twirls it around. I deserve a medal for not melting right here at his feet.

He hooks his index finger under the black bow between my bra cups. “Did you wear this for me?” His voice is a husky whisper that I can’t deny.

His fingers skim my belly, trace over my hip, following the lace of my thong behind me to where the straps meet at the small of my back. My breath catches as he takes the fabric path over the curve of my tailbone and down, his fingers ringing every nerve ending to life as they pass. Electric pleasure whips through me.

“Fourteen months since I’ve touched you,” he says. “Fourteen months since I've gotten to hear the way you breathe when you’re turned on, since I've gotten to listen to you scream as I make you come. Tell me you haven’t thought about it.”

“I’d be lying.”

“Don’t lie,” he says, eyes hot and intense. “Just tell me you want me.”

Book Review: Level Up by Hadley Quinn

Title: Level Up
Author: Hadley Quinn
Genre: Romantic Suspense (Standalone)

Warning: Not suitable for an audience under the age of 18 due to sex and language. Military flashbacks may be disturbing to sensitive readers.

He was like nothing I’d ever known: tall, muscular, tattooed, rough in every way…except with me. He’d never had softness in his life; never experienced a woman that loved him like I could. After one meeting, I couldn’t get him out of my head. There wasn’t even an explanation I found for myself as to why I was so drawn to him. We were from two entirely different worlds and I couldn’t offer him anything but…me.

She found a way to chip away years of harsh living. I’m not sure what it was that kept her coming back, but I couldn’t deny that I needed that from her. She begged me to give her a chance, but my reluctance had nothing to do with her. It was me. I was the one that she’d regret. I was the one that would shake her peaceful, innocent world until there were no tears left. But for some reason…she wouldn't leave my side.

A romantic summer turns into a life-or-death mission while first love attempts to heal a troubled soldier. Can Gabe escape the demons from his past before he loses the only good thing to enter his life?

4-4.5 Stars

This book was such a great and EASY read. I really enjoyed Gabe and Ava's story!!! Hadley Quinn is one of my favorite authors, so I will say this: She can write an intriguing story. I don't normally read romantic suspense, but this book was really good! She knows how to weave scenarios and make the storyline very believable. It was very action packed and very romantic. *sigh* I loved the relationship that Ava and Gabe was so comforting and affectionate, but also very intense.

Ava was such a sweet young lady that had a very lovable and nurturing side to her. She was a natural caretaker with a zest for life and she didn't care what anyone else thought. She had a good head on her shoulders and was very solid in her beliefs. Her character was SO likable. I got a kick out of her smart wit (one of HQ's best abilities as a writer) and her tenacity. Ava was such a well rounded character that was perfect for the likes of Gabe.

Gabe was closed off from the world. He had seen enough in his lifetime to scar anyone.....and he was definitely suffering because of it. Gabe had a work ethic to be envious of; he did his work effortlessly and efficiently, and he did it right. Always.

Gabe was taking some time "off" from his other job and came to work on Ava's family vacation home. Ava saw him and was immediately drawn to him....and it was a very 'whaaa....?' meeting, too. Gabe is always working and getting things done around the home, but he doesn't talk very much. Ava had tried talking to him on a few occasions, but that apparently didn't go over very well. It left her wondering if he was angry at her, or if he was mad....but, the vision she received when she did spot him working around the yard and taking some time to talk to him....yummy!!!

~God, what did he do all day besides wrestle bears?~

He definitely was a sight.....very disciplined and very fit. Between Ava trying to talk to Gabe and Gabe trying to avoid Ava while she vacationed with her friends, there was some push and pull. It was fun to watch them try to work around each other. She knew that Gabe was a good guy from some of the glimpses he would give her, but he refused to allow her to get too close. She tried....oh boy, did she ever. There was something about him that just drew her in even though she knew that he was very closed off. Watching Ava break him down, little by little, was very entertaining. She had such an ease about her when she talked to him that he couldn't help giving in a little here and there. Their exchanges were very spirited and usually made me laugh. Like, c'mon Gabe!! Give in a little!!! She was continually trying to find reasons to talk to him. She would make food for him and bring it over and make excuses to get him to talk. I loved it!

~"Take a sandwich then," she tried, holding out the plate that was still with her. "If you don't, I'll know its my cooking and sandwich making skills that turn you off." He started at her. Like, really stared at her.

Finally, in a voice that was a little huskier than usual, he said, "I assure you that I'm not turned off in the least bit." And then he grabbed a sandwich from the plate and walked away with it....~

Okay?!? He would give just a little and then pull away.....I loved this!! Their relationship was so fun to watch and grow, but man-o-man!!! Gabe was in over his head....he didn't want to give in, but he found it harder to resist her than anything else. And if he didn't have his own demons to battle with, he would realize that Ava was good for him. She was very good for him. He needed to quit fighting it!!

~She was way too classy to be drawn to the likes of him~

And then, the action came to his front door....literally, and that is when the story got super intense. It was a very nail-biting time for ME, so I can only imagine what was going on for Ava....ha! It wasn't angsty, but it was very action-packed and very fast paced. The action in this book was very intense and I found myself skimming some of it because it was super detailed on everything happening around them (remember, I don't read suspense/action type books), but then found myself going back to read it because I realized that there was stuff happening in there that was integral to the story and Ava and Gabe's relationship. It really was written really exceptionally well.

Overall, very good book. This was written with such detail and the story was well thought out. I really enjoyed this book and would truly recommend it to anyone!

~Our pasts are there to learn from, but it doesn't mean it has to own us~

Check out this BOOK TRAILER for the book. I loved this trailer!!

Besides books, I love music, dance, sports, and sunshine. I love live music and love going to concerts. Doesn't tell you much, but you'll learn way more about me from social media or my blog site!

My writing: I don't write short stories. I'd rather have one full story instead of turning it into two. I believe in order to build a relationship with a book, it takes time to get to know it. I like my characters to be well-developed. I like the story to show rather than tell. I like my heroes to have integrity and my heroines to be strong. Just as importantly, I like them to have a sense of humor. I believe in adversity because it is a natural part of life, and I like my characters to learn that as well. And I definitely *prefer* happily ever afters!

A few years ago, she picked up FSOG and The Crossfire Series and was drawn to the characters; the storylines moved her more than anything. Her life changed at that point. She could relate to the characters and what they had gone through. She devoured books after that, sometimes reading 8-10 books a week, and finding new authors that she enjoyed reading. She couldn't be without a book, her iPad, or iPhone; anything that she could download her kindle app onto.
Knowing she had always wanted to write but kept putting it off, she emailed a few of her favorite authors that gave her some very good advice. So she finally went for it.
