OF WINGED CREATURES & NESTING GROUNDS
by A. Wilding Wells
Genre: Contemporary Romance
— SYNOPSIS —

Happy
Trapped in a cage…

I was running against time and desperate to conquer my fears with my “don’t forget to be awesome” plan.

One night, I was sulking over my uglier-than-homemade-sin life and reeling from another painful loss. As I thought about my new life, a handsome gent named Hunt Hardick sat next to me. He looked like a good start and was likely a hell of a finish. Suddenly, my plan took on a life of its own.

Hunt
After a long day as one of San Francisco’s most prominent ob/gyns, I stopped at a bar for a bourbon and a mental break from my ex, who I couldn’t seem to bleach from my system. One glance at Happy’s tearstained angelic face and I was done. I’d never been a guy to turn down a stunning woman who also looked like a beautiful project.

Hunt was a key in my locked cage that once opened meant I might fly away.

An emotionally charged, rich with feeling story about survival, triumph, and a girl named Happy Go Lucky who had a plan. A plan that didn’t include the ruggedly sexy gynecologist who inserted himself in her life.

— REVIEW: 4.5 STARS
It has been a long time since a book has made me burst out LAUGHING while reading. The banter, the smartass remarks, and the sarcasm between Hunter and Happy were truly hilarious.
First, their names. Good God. That in itself was funny and seeing them give each other crap over their names was fun to read. Everything flowed naturally and very smoothly.

Hunter: Go out with me.
Happy: Who is this?
Hunter: 4-letter word for pursuit.
Happy: Stalker?
Hunter: Can you count?

Hunter was a very successful doctor that was ready to settle down with a family of his own. What he did not count on was his girlfriend turning down his proposal because she was pregnant with another man's baby. Um, yesI HATED Sela. Beeotch.

Happy was a girl on a mission. You see, she had a plan. She knew what she wanted out of life and she was going to get it. But she wasn't exactly living, just existing, really. Her heartbreaking past and her insecurities had her living life like a caged bird.
Until Hunter.

"Maybe you were meant to be mine all along."

From the moment they met, they had an easy-going connection and much to Happy's dismay, Hunter was not going to let her go. He was patient with her and helped her come out of her shell. He soothed her fears and showed her that he could be the man for her.

Hunter was honestly a GOOD GUY but sometimes he was too nice and that brought along problems. Mainly one....Sela. Boy, oh boy, she sure pissed me off. Extremely manipulative!! *Sigh*

Hunter and Happy's story was fun to ready and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was also quite different from a lot of the books I've come across so it was refreshing too. If you're in the mood for some humor and romance, this one is definitely the book for you! 4.5 Stars!

Incapable of resisting a peek for another second, I twist my head to check out Mr. Goodtime. What sort of man has a voice that sounds more decadent than a breakfast of chocolate truffles at midnight?

He leans over the bar, his elbows on the edge, and massages his temples. My god, those hands. I can only imagine the forearms attached to them.

When he angles his head, our eyes meet in a stare. Scrumptious with a side of rough and tumble. Groaning into one palm, I rotate away and lift my glass to my lips, the charred-caramel scent of my drink drifting through my senses. What do I care if Mr. Goodtime can likely tell by my tear-tracked face that my day’s been uglier than homemade sin?

“Hey, you okay?” he asks.

I watch him through wet lashes. “A little blue is all. Thanks.”

“You look like you want someone to talk to.” He searches my face, his tender eyes pools of emerald and concern. Oh, those eyes. Maybe they’re more hazel than emerald-fuck-me-yummy. Whatever, they’re appetizing.

The bartender slides the guy’s bourbon in front of him. And, for the few seconds he’s sipping his drink, I study him after popping a boozy cherry in my mouth. He looks like a take-all-your-worries-away type of gent. Also known as a beautiful distraction. I’m guessing he’s in his early thirties by the gentle smile lines around his eyes. On the bar in front of him is a newspaper with a partially worked crossword puzzle and a fountain pen. And what the hell is he wearing? Threadbare orange jeans and a pea green leather jacket that looks like it was dragged down a bumpy road behind a pickup. A pocket watch and a vest too? What on earth. He’s not steam punk, and he’s not eighty. What is he? Sexy.

And damn, does his wavy golden-brown hair and perfect scruffy stubble make him a possible entry in my journal. He looks like a good start. And I’ll bet he’s a hell of a finish.

He skates his glass along the bar.

I glance down when it clinks mine. After clearing the web in my throat, I mutter, “I’m not much for company tonight.”

“I’m not company. I’m just a guy. You look like you need to tell someone something.” He slides my bobby pin out of my hair and studies the bluebird on it for a few seconds, and a smile forms on one side of his wide lips. He places the bobby pin between his teeth, at the corner of his mouth, and shoves wayward strands of hair behind my ear. Then, after gliding the pin back in place, he says, “There. You’re fixed.”

I choke on a sip of my drink. If only it were that simple. “Yeah. Fixed.”

“You get your heart broken, little bluebird? I can’t imagine anyone doing that to such a gorgeous girl.”

A smirk sits on my pout.

“See there? She smiles.” He nudges my elbow.

I shake my head, and my smirk grows.

“Oh, hell yeah. She shines.” His grin is boyish, but he’s as man as the gender gets.

“You got me, Mr. Goodtime.” I chuckle. “Seriously though, I’m here for booze hugs.”

He leans toward my ear while he digs in his back pocket and pulls a handkerchief out. “Does it love hard and understand you?” he asks softly. “Spill it, shmoop.”

Shmoop? I’ll bet he makes pancakes from scratch and knits slippers for his girlfriend while he’s naked. My stomach flutters when he tucks the cloth in my fisted hand.

“Guys still carry these?” I fondle the soft square. “Do you have superpowers too?”

“Probability manipulation,” he deadpans. “I can cause unlikely things to happen.”

We both laugh, my double snort catching him off guard. He flashes a smirk my way.

After dabbing my eyes, I chase ice around in my glass with one of my markers. “Like making me smile?”

“Captain Compassion,” he says, throwing his arm over the back of my chair as though we know each other.

And it feels like we do. Guess my guard is down. Deception and death can do that to a girl. It can also build your guard sky-scraper tall.

“So, is it a guy?” His tone is gentle and soothing. Tender. He strokes my back, and I surprisingly let him. “Nothing hard liquor can’t solve, huh?”

“Are you going to tell me you’re a hard licker? Now that would be a pick-up line I’ve never heard.”

I’m a mother of four sons, a country dweller, a foodie, an animal and nature lover and an entrepreneur. I started my first company when I was twenty-three with my husband and partner, the lovely man I am still married to and work with twenty-four years later. Together we’ve always created. I’ve written several books in other genres under a different name. My first novel is A Mess of Reason and what released in July 2015. My second book, How To Tame Beasts And Other Wild Things, was published in April 2016. A Field Guide To Catching Crickets was published June 7, 2016.

ABOUT MY WRITING
I live with my characters day and night. Most of the time I feel like a voyeur in their lives, which magically seem to unfold right in front of me. They’re in my dreams and on my brain non-stop. I’ll spend weeks editing and revising one book with the next plot swimming through my head and being scribbled onto endless reams of paper. When I write I feel everything - and I do mean EVERYTHING - about them. I’m turned on by them. I laugh at and with them. I get pissed at them. I bitch at them. I cry if something awful is happening to them. My heart speeds up when they fight. I get goose bumps because of them.

I’ll admit it sometimes feels a little like I’m playing God when I write (either that or a puppeteer). I love writing about strong characters that have flaws and imperfections to deal with, work on or resolve. I adore twists, turns and funky plot oddities that make life the crazy thing that it really is. I love putting my characters in awkward situations that allow for interesting, heated and often sexy dialogue to play out.

Oh my gosh, you guys!! By now, you all should know that I'm a HUGE fan of Romantic Suspense novels and well, AJ Norris HOOKED me. From the very beginning I was beyond curious to see how things would unfold in Tattoo Killer! There was murder, mystery, suspense, and a steamy romance so suffice it to say, I was a goner!

Mikey...loved him! He was flawed, down to earth, sexy, and beyond patient! I mean, poor guy—someone was truly out to make his life a living hell plus, let's not even discuss his ex-wife, who you will end up hating. Trust me.

Grace needed a man like Mikey in her life. She needed someone to spice it up, and man, did he ever! Their relationship was hot, but it had me nervous because they were both keeping secrets from each other and I just knew that would end badly. It was a ticking time-bomb.

The murders happening around town added a great mystery/suspense feel to the book which at times even gave me the creeps. I think this part of the book was all developed very well. Now, this was not the kind of book where you're trying to guess who the villain is. After a certain time, you know who it is, but it all comes down to catching the killer, whom always seemed to be one step ahead of the game.

Overall, Tattoo Killer was a great Romantic Suspense. A.J. Norris has a gained a brand, new fan here!! I will certainly be checking out her other books!!

The doorbell to Ink Addiction chimed and Mikey inwardly groaned. He ducked behind the curtain toward the back of the shop. Through a gap he watched Detective Harry Hunter survey the parlor until he spotted the glass top counter and Mandy.
Her bright smile greeted him. “What can we help you with today?”
“Looking for Mikey Hardin. Is he here?”
Please don’t tell him I’m here.
“Yeah, he’s in the back.” She nodded in Mikey’s direction.
Dammit.
“Mike!” she shouted. Her feet padded toward him. “Mike…”
He came out of his hiding spot and nearly ran into her.
Her face flushed. “Oh…this guy is here to see—”
“I heard.”
Mandy returned to her post behind the counter as Hunter joined Mikey back by his work station, a cup of coffee in his hand.
“Hardin, need to have a word with you.”
What now?
“All right.” He waved him over. “We’ll need to make this quick, got another tattoo to do in twenty minutes.”
“This won’t take long. I’ll come right out with it. Do you know a Chelsea Rand?” Hunter scrutinized Mikey’s face.
“No, can’t say I do. Is there a reason you’re asking about her?”
“She was found murdered.”
“Another one? Shit, when?”
Harry sipped his coffee, eyeing Mikey over the rim of the cup. “About a year ago.”
“And you think I had something to do with it?” He pinched the bridge of his nose. “When is this nightmare going to end?” he muttered under his breath.
“What’s that?” Hunter asked.
“Nothing. When did you say she was killed?”
“A year ago. You didn’t know her?”
“That’s what I said.”
“Do you keep records of your customers?”
“Clients. Yes, but names only unless they pay with a credit card. Sometimes emails.”
“You wouldn’t happen to have the list handy or on a computer, would you?”
Mikey walked behind the curtain where he’d tried hiding from the detective. Hunter followed him.
He sat down at a glass top desk with chrome legs and began tapping on the laptop keyboard. He entered the name into the search function of the scheduling program. Chelsea Rand came up, along with her email address used for newsletters with the dates and times of all her appointments. Hunter leaned over his shoulder.
“How come I see her name?” the detective asked.

— REVIEW: 4 STARS —
What a refreshingly different book! C.J. Carlyon's writing was easy to follow and fun to read. With witty and natural dialogue, I had no trouble whatsoever connecting with Austen and the rest of the characters. Ms. Carlyon stayed true to their age and reading their conversations took me straight back to college! It's not often I can say that an author truly developed a character perfectly, age-wise, but C.J. Carlyon did. She nailed it.

Cashel.
Austen.
Wyatt.

Cashel and Austen had an instant, and highly undeniable connection and hot chemistry. There was no turning back for these two. They were it for each other. Yes, they had their ups and downs, but I knew they would work through everything. They had to.

Wyatt.
Man, if I'm being completely honest here, I loved Wyatt. I truly do hope he gets a book! That man was all-kinds of sexy! He had quite the alpha side and I'm curious to see him fall in love...again. *wink*

Overall, this was truly an enjoyable book that I read in one sitting. The characters were great and the story line was fun and refreshing. I had a bit of a hard time getting into it at first, but once I started understanding the characters and seeing where story line was going, I couldn't stop reading. I look forward to reading more from C.J. Carlyon! Go one-click your copy!

After her swim Austen lay on her back beside her friend close to the edge of the pool. She loved the delicious surprise of cool water splashing her ever so lightly, almost like a touch, whenever someone swam by. She closed her eyes. Her mind wandered. While Lilou had many boys – men - for fun and love while they were away, Austen found she couldn’t be as free. The boys – boys - she had been with had beguiled her with their smiles and their eyes and their young smooth lips, but their fingers were too unsure and too tenacious, not sure exactly where to touch her but determined anyway. They knew only how her body felt under their hands not how their hands felt on her body. And the softness of their skin, prickled with clippered hair rough like pencil shavings, unnerved her, the vanity and the cluelessness of it. Austen longed to feel something hard, something urgent, something real. She wondered what it was that Ruby had seen. “Are you going to fall in love this summer?” Austen asked Lilou.

“Of course; I love every man I’ve ever been with, I just don’t love them for very long. An hour, two hours . . .”

A rush of water sounded in Austen’s ear. She turned towards the noise and the first thing she saw were his devil’s horns, wet. Those curved hollows carved into his hips. She knew immediately, instinctively, it was Cashel Drai. His broad shoulders bulged and his biceps swelled as he raised his body up out of the pool looming over her, almost on top of her, splashing water onto her stomach, her breasts. Her eyes followed the cascade between his muscled chest, winding through the hair that licked across his stomach, down the muscles, down that bump, bump, bump, bump. He was so close Austen surprised herself imagining, just for a second, flicking her tongue along those dark chiselled trenches.

Cashel Drai stood above her. Their eyes met, locked, blue on blue. Austen’s breathing quickened as he ran his hand through the wet tangle of his dark brown hair, dripping water across her thighs. Veins ribboned the tanned skin on his forearms and his gaze traced the lines of her hipbones before coming back to her face where his eyes danced, wicked, his smile cocky. So sure.

“Got you all wet,” he said.

Austen eyed him coolly. Cashel Drai or not, who did he imagine he was, speaking to her that way, as though she would swoon. Please. Slowly she raised one hand, pretending to shield her eyes from the sun. As her arm reached higher towards her face the fullness of her breast shifted upward and her nipple, erect, edged closer and closer to the seam of her bikini. Cashel’s smile faltered his eyes hungry. Austen smirked and her gaze dropped to his black trunks and the thickness she saw there. She arched an eyebrow. All was quiet, as if everyone at the pool was waiting on her reply. For Cashel Drai she had just one word.

“Unlikely.”

The crowd tittered, Lilou winked and no one could tell that Austen had lied.

— REVIEW: 5 STARS —
Holy addictive book, Batman!! Carissa Ann Lynch managed once again to FULLY CAPTIVATE me from page one to the very last one. I had started reading my paperback copy of this book a few months back, but never got the chance to finish it (shame on me!). So, once again, I decided to take a Carissa Ann Lynch novel with me on one our camping trips, and I FINALLY got the chance to read it (that's exactly how I read book one in this serieswhile camping).

I re-started it one morning, while alone at our campsite (husband and kids were gone for the day), and a couple of hours later I was done. Now, let me just say that reading this book while ALONE up in the mountains was not my brightest moment. I found myself feeling paranoid with every, single noise I heard. It did not really matter that I had five dogs with me. Nope. I found myself highly anticipating my husband's return to camp! Ha. Ms. Lynch is just that good with her thrillers!

Now, a bit about this MUST-READ novel...
While this is technically a standalone book, I would still very much HIGHLY recommend that you read book one, Have You Seen This Girl?, first which is Wendi's kick-ass story. Wendi has an important role role in this second installment and her book provides a lot of background information that will allow you, in my opinion, to understand House of the Lost Girls even better.

Marianna had a life that was NOT was she thought it was...at all. Plot twist after jaw-dropping plot twist proved that everything she thought she knew was wrong. Deadly wrong.
This book gave me the creeps!!
I'm not quite sure what I would have done in Marianna's situation. I mean, the things she discovered! Holy chalupas, I'd be devastated! With no one to trust, no one to believe in... What was left?

You guys, if you read ONE book this Halloween season, let it be this one (heck, this entire series, really!). I promise it's creepy, enthralling, and truly addicting!! I can't wait to start Carnival of Dead Girls!! FIVE STARS!

Besides my family, my greatest love in life is books. Reading them, writing them, holding them, smelling them…well, you get the idea. I’ve always loved to read, and some of my earliest childhood memories are me, tucked away in my room, lost in a good book. I received a five dollar allowance each week, and I always — always — spent it on books. My love affair with writing started early, but it mostly involved journaling and writing silly poems. Several years ago, I didn’t have a book to read so I decided on a whim to write my own story, something I’d like to read. It turned out to be harder than I thought, but from that point on I was hooked. My first and second books were released by Sarah Book Publishing: This Is Not About Love and Grayson’s Ridge. I’m a total genre-hopper. Basically, I like to write what I like to read: a little bit of everything! I reside in Floyds Knobs, Indiana with my husband, three children, and massive collection of books. I have a degree in psychology and worked as a counselor.

#CoverReveal + #PreOrder: BEDWRECKER by @authorkimkarr

Bedwrecker by Kim Karr
Release Date: November 3, 2016
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Cover Design: Shanoff Formats
Cover Model: Robson Costa

— SYNOPSIS
Every girl has had a broken heart.
Every girl knows love hurts.
Every girl has a story.
This is mine…

My name is Maggie May and I met him under a haze of purple lights. As cliché as it sounds he was tall, dark, and handsome as hell, and I had fireworks in my eyes…literally.

It was New Year’s Eve and beneath the magic of all that glitters and shines, I fell for him and his wicked ways. The way he moved, the way he touched me, the way he brought me to orgasm over and over.

You should know that I don’t believe in love. Fairytales and happily-ever-afters are never anything I’ve dreamed of…until him.

Something changed the moment our eyes met. It wasn’t insta-lust or insta-love, it was simply him and me, and the dance floor at our feet.

The problem is our story ended three days after it started.
But now he’s back.
And he says he’s sorry.
Can I believe him?
Do I want to believe him?

He calls me his bedwrecker…but what if he wrecks me?

— ABOUT THE AUTHOR: KIM KARR —
Reader * Writer * Coffeelover * Romantic
Kim is a daydreamer. So much so that if daydreaming could be a hobby it would be her favorite. It's how her stories are born and how they take root. An imagination that runs wild is something to be thankful for, and she is very thankful. :)

She grew up in New York and now lives in Florida with her husband and four kids. She's always had a love for reading books and writing. Being an English major in college, she wanted to teach at the college level but that was not to be. She went on to receive an MBA and became a project manager until quitting to raise her family. Kim currently works part-time with her husband and with the rest of her time embraces one of her biggest passions--writing.

Kim wears a lot of hats! Writer, book-lover, wife, soccer-mom, taxi driver, and the all around go-to person of her family. However, she always finds time to read.

She likes to believe in soul mates, kindred spirits, true friends, and Happily-Ever-Afters. She loves to drink champagne, listen to music, and hopes to always stay young at heart.
