Book Review: Packaged by SE Hall

Authors: SE Hall and Angela Graham

Certain men.
Certain professions.
Some things are just universally SEXY.
But maybe not quite this sexy-

"You've been expecting this."

4 Stars
Here is another amazing collaboration between SE Hall and Angela Graham. These two authors together have such a great, smooth storytelling ability that we have already had the pleasure of enjoying in Stirred Up (1&2).

So, that synopsis that surely doesn’t give you much to go on, right?? Well, let me tell you something. The book makes up for it in *SO* many ways! This book may be a quickie, (erotic to boot!!!) but it leaves NOTHING to the imagination. We Meet Amelia who has a secret admirer…..and he seems to have a way with his words. Now, I may have felt a slight creeper factor in the verrrrah beginning based on how it all started, but by the time we got to meet “him” throughout the book, I really enjoyed the back and forth between these two and watching their “relationship” develop. They had such a different friendship, but the banter was really funny to read too!

This was a short book, it’s just a quickie, so there is only so much that can be told and elaborated on, but it really allowed us to get to know Amelia and her admirer. I didn’t feel that I was rushed, and I didn’t feel like I was really missing out on any plot at all. I think this book came together really well and I truly enjoyed reading it!!  The premise behind the admirer is really a unique storyline and I like the way it unfolded. It allowed for some angsty times, but also allowed for a little turmoil and just the right amount of drama to pull the book together.  There is a little treat in this book for fans of SE Hall and Angela Graham, one that I think was fun to see with a little cameo.

"Either I’m really appreciative of all his “studies” now, or the man was born the natural God of Go Down. Either way, I’m a grateful recipient." ~Amelia

I will say this; I have fallen for “HIM”.  I enjoyed this book and look forward to the next quickie from these two!!

Book Review: Sugar On The Edge by Sawyer Bennett

Author: Sawyer Bennett
He’s utterly alone…

Tortured and existing in a dark spiral of despair, bestselling British author, Gavin Cooke, has come to the Outer Banks of North Carolina to escape the seedy lifestyle he had been living in London and in a desperate attempt to regain his writing focus. He’s twisted, bitter and angry at the world. He’s a loner… needing not a single thing other than his Scotch and a laptop upon which he can bang out his next erotic, dark thriller.

She’s running in place and getting nowhere…

Savannah Shepherd’s life is falling apart. Her dream of being a wildlife photographer seems a distant memory and she’s barely able to make ends meet. Driving herself forward with no clear goals apparent, she’s about ready to pack up her bags and head home with her tail between her legs.

Two unlikely lovers…

He’s raw, forceful and a dirty talker. She’s a flowers and romance type of girl. Yet within each other, they find a mutual craving that can only be satisfied by giving in to their desires for one another.
Lust turns into something more… something they were not looking for but tentatively accept. Will it be enough to push them past the obstacles of Gavin’s bitter past?

4.5 Stars

While this book is part of the Last Call series, it can be read as a standalone. We get to catch up and see the other friends, but we really focused on Gavin and Savannah in this story.

This book was a fun twist on a love storyline with a pained Hero. I haven’t read a book about an author writing a book, and this was just a different look into the book world, with a twist of an unexpected love in the most polar opposites of personalities, or so it would seem. I love Sawyer’s books and this series alone has been a very fun and sexy series. This book was a great way to see Gavin and Savannah’s story unfold…..it was an amazing journey for Savannah and to see her come out of her shell, while Gavin learned to come out of the darkness. Their story was truly a story of love overcoming all odds.

Gavin was a heartthrob with a penchant for dark sex, and mixed with a British accent, that made him undeniably panty-melting deliciousness. Savannah was perfectly understated beauty, without the knowledge of just how beautiful she was. She was quiet and a very hard worker trying to make it on her own. She had a lot of pride and was quite stubborn.

With pain stopping Gavin and insecurities stopping Savannah, their love was one that worked for its own reasons. When you find the right one….it’s really just effortless and it all fits together, like Gavin and Savannah did.  However, the start of their relationship was a tad rough.

I’m not sure if it’s the five o’clock shadow he’s sporting, or his smoky gray eyes, but he looks dark, dangerous, and utterly freakin’ gorgeous. Add on that silky, smooth British accent, and he’s what you’d call a classic panty-melter. That is, if he kept his condescending, cranky mouth shut.

The way their relationship progressed really made me feel the excitement and joy of a first love…with a very cautious foot forward. I felt the giddiness and loved watching them grow. I loved their exploration of each other and how each others insecurities and weaknesses brought out the power, strength and depth of the other.  It was so well rounded and such a great story.

….and my cheeks burn with the realization that I am undeniably, one-hundred percent, completely attracted to this strange and frustrating man. ~Savannah

Her indifference to me is pushing all my buttons, and I feel the insane need to get her attention. Except, the way that I want to get it is by stalking up to her and kissing her hard….maybe with my hand between her legs. ~Gavin

Gavin was so strong willed compared to Savannah’s soft demeanor, but there was something about Gavin that brought out the little vixen in Savannah. I was shocked!!! I really think they were just made for each other! The way that Gavin loved her….the way that he attached himself to her very soul made me melt. He was every bit the man that Savannah needed, just as Savannah was every bit the woman that Gavin never knew he needed.

Because I felt it to the absolute center of my soul. The moment that he just completely possessed me, when his body grabbed ahold of mine and laid claim to it.

The way his job worked into this book really allowed their story to unfold. It was really a neat way to tell their love story. Without giving too much away, his very livelihood was such a good backdrop for the storyline and it added a different element that made it that much more interesting.

However, when a kink was thrown into their lives, it wasn’t Savannah giving the comfort….she was the strong one that we learned a great deal about. This book had really good character development, but Savannah was my favorite one to see. She was, from beginning to end, a different character but she was true to herself. I am not sure I can do her character justice, but seeing her find ‘herself’ was a great thing to witness. Gavin put the pressure on her, but she never lost her cool….and that made her strong in my eyes.

This book was a very strong 4.5 stars for an amazing love story.

 ~ REVIEW ~
4.5 Stars

I love books that catch my full attention right from the very beginning, books that have emotional angst……..and Ryker was just that.

“Some people are meant to go through life alone, and I was one of those people.” – Ryker

Ryker Jeffries was broken. Shattered. He didn’t deserve to live a happy, care-free life. He lost that right years ago. He used drumming and sex as an escape to his sad, tragic, and lonely reality. He only ever wanted one girl, but he was not worthy of her love.

“The thought of you with someone else terrifies me, but so does the thought of you being with me.”

Faith Bishop loved Ryker since….well, forever. He was it for her. Problem was, Ryker always made it abundantly clear he didn’t want Faith.

Or did he?

Faith and Ryker argued a lot and always found ways to get on each other’s nerves. There were more than a few moments where Ryker was downright an asshole! I found myself gasping with shock at some of the things he would tell Faith just to keep her at arm’s length. He couldn’t let her get close. He’d ruin her. He wasn’t good for her. But life had a funny way of working out.

Despite Ryker’s greatest efforts, Faith got to him. She helped him open up. She helped him realize he deserved happiness just as much as the next person. He deserved the life he always yearned for – one where he’s loved. Once Ryker and Faith got together, it was a smooth ride. Not a lot of angst, but the emotional side was very much there. Learning about Ryker’s past was heartbreaking. It helped me fully understand why he did the things he did. *Sigh.* Ryker is amazing. Yummy, too!

“I wanted to be yours for years, and now I am.” – Faith

It’s an absolute plus for me when authors give me FULL closure as a reader with their endings.
That. Epilogue. Wow. LOVED IT. Everything came full circle and in the most wonderful way possible. I finished reading with the biggest smile ever. LOVED IT!

I recommend this book!! 4.5 Stars!

Family and friends are the most important things to me. I have been married for a little over 20 years and we have two sons. I enjoy meeting new people, traveling, reading, relaxing on a beach and shopping. I have an addiction to coffee and Diet Coke; you may want to stand clear if I haven't had my daily intake of either!

I love watching my New York Yankees - yes I called them mine ;). I also enjoy playing and watching golf. Writing has been something that has been private and not shared until the day I decided to publish
Unexpected Chance; which by the way came to me in a dream. Waking up to the voices of Alex Logan and Aubrey Ryan changed everything! Taking my writing out of a drawer and actually self-publishing it,
is something I never thought I’d have the guts to do, but I am so happy that I did. The authors, bloggers and readers that I have met have changed my life and I couldn't be happier.

Blog Tour Stop! "A Kiss So Deadly" by Mary Reason Theriot #ParanormalRomance

Author: Mary Reason Theriot
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Bridgette Marquette inherited her family plantation, including the ghosts living there. The ghosts must warn Bridgette that something dark and foreboding lurks in the shadows at the plantation before it is too late.

Before building the Marquette Plantation, Pierre and Geneviève Marquette lived in a small home with the other Acadians in Nova Scotia. They were forced from their home as was others that traveled with them. It took Pierre years to build Geneviève the perfect home when they finally made it to Louisiana. Life had been hard but they had each other and their children. Unfortunately, Geneviève only got to live in it for a short while before her unfortunate passing. Yellow fever hit the area with a vengeance taking many lives, including hers.

Ever since her passing Geneviève has wandered the plantation and watched her family grow. Genevieve is so proud of her decedents. Despite the ravages of war, storms and hard times, this plantation did maintain many of their traditions as well as their French language. She beams with pride as Bridgette strives to educate people of their unique cultural identity forged by some four centuries of turbulent history.

Marquette Plantation is the image of everything graceful and lovely in the Deep South. In the serene moonlight, a low ground fog swirls as a light breeze rolls off of the bayou. Spanish moss drips from the ancient oak trees reminding her of the lace curtains she just purchased.

The silver mist curls its way around the courtyard. She can hear the moans of the poor lost souls that are trapped in the mist. The moon has a ring around it promising rain soon. The misty halo creates an eerie glow across the earth, bathing the area in a pale light.

Lately, she is afraid to wander the grounds. The beauty of the night seems to have been taken from her. All that seems to remain in this place she loves for so long is death and evil. If only she could see where the evil lurks, she could warn someone. But no, all she can do is sense its presence. She can hear its raspy breath and smell the fetid odor that comes from its flesh and blood.

She must warn Bridgette of the evil that lurks these grounds before it is too late.
