~REVIEW~
4.5 Stars

While this book is part of the Last Call series, it can be read as a standalone. We get to catch up and see the other friends, but we really focused on Gavin and Savannah in this story.

This book was a fun twist on a love storyline with a pained Hero. I haven’t read a book about an author writing a book, and this was just a different look into the book world, with a twist of an unexpected love in the most polar opposites of personalities, or so it would seem. I love Sawyer’s books and this series alone has been a very fun and sexy series. This book was a great way to see Gavin and Savannah’s story unfold…..it was an amazing journey for Savannah and to see her come out of her shell, while Gavin learned to come out of the darkness. Their story was truly a story of love overcoming all odds.

Gavin was a heartthrob with a penchant for dark sex, and mixed with a British accent, that made him undeniably panty-melting deliciousness. Savannah was perfectly understated beauty, without the knowledge of just how beautiful she was. She was quiet and a very hard worker trying to make it on her own. She had a lot of pride and was quite stubborn.

With pain stopping Gavin and insecurities stopping Savannah, their love was one that worked for its own reasons. When you find the right one….it’s really just effortless and it all fits together, like Gavin and Savannah did.  However, the start of their relationship was a tad rough.

I’m not sure if it’s the five o’clock shadow he’s sporting, or his smoky gray eyes, but he looks dark, dangerous, and utterly freakin’ gorgeous. Add on that silky, smooth British accent, and he’s what you’d call a classic panty-melter. That is, if he kept his condescending, cranky mouth shut.

The way their relationship progressed really made me feel the excitement and joy of a first love…with a very cautious foot forward. I felt the giddiness and loved watching them grow. I loved their exploration of each other and how each others insecurities and weaknesses brought out the power, strength and depth of the other.  It was so well rounded and such a great story.

….and my cheeks burn with the realization that I am undeniably, one-hundred percent, completely attracted to this strange and frustrating man. ~Savannah

Her indifference to me is pushing all my buttons, and I feel the insane need to get her attention. Except, the way that I want to get it is by stalking up to her and kissing her hard….maybe with my hand between her legs. ~Gavin

Gavin was so strong willed compared to Savannah’s soft demeanor, but there was something about Gavin that brought out the little vixen in Savannah. I was shocked!!! I really think they were just made for each other! The way that Gavin loved her….the way that he attached himself to her very soul made me melt. He was every bit the man that Savannah needed, just as Savannah was every bit the woman that Gavin never knew he needed.

Because I felt it to the absolute center of my soul. The moment that he just completely possessed me, when his body grabbed ahold of mine and laid claim to it.

The way his job worked into this book really allowed their story to unfold. It was really a neat way to tell their love story. Without giving too much away, his very livelihood was such a good backdrop for the storyline and it added a different element that made it that much more interesting.

However, when a kink was thrown into their lives, it wasn’t Savannah giving the comfort….she was the strong one that we learned a great deal about. This book had really good character development, but Savannah was my favorite one to see. She was, from beginning to end, a different character but she was true to herself. I am not sure I can do her character justice, but seeing her find ‘herself’ was a great thing to witness. Gavin put the pressure on her, but she never lost her cool….and that made her strong in my eyes.

This book was a very strong 4.5 stars for an amazing love story.
