Excerpt

I hear the first whisper as I pick up my bag to exit the locker room. “You know that’s the girl that got Dylan in trouble.” Closing my eyes, I try to force back the tears and control my emotions. They will not get the best of me.
When I walk past them, they stop talking. I stop and look at them and give them a dose of their own medicine. “Yeah, I am that girl. Got anything else you wanna know?” I say with my bag tossed over my shoulder and my arms crossed.
“We didn’t say anything,” one girl states with an eye roll.
“That’s what I thought.” I make my way back to the stands, placing my bag down and walking toward the pool. Tori and Georgia must see the heat rising in my face because they ask me what the hell just happened as soon as I meet them.
“Some Davidson bitches we’re running their traps already. So, I just asked if they had any more questions.”
Georgia laughs. “They are so in for it! Charley’s gonna kick their ass today in the water.”
“Damn right, I am,” I say as I dip my cap into the pool, place it on my head and add my goggles. It’s time to give them another reason to talk about Charley Anne Rice.

Blog Tour Stop + #Giveaway: "Last Second Chance" by Caisey Quinn

LAST SECOND CHANCE
Second Chance #1
SYNOPSIS:
When Stella Jo Chandler gets an offer to work at the Second Chance Ranch celebrity rehab facility right after graduating from Texas A&M, she’s tempted to turn it down. She wants to help real people with real problems, not spoiled celebrities going on vacation for publicity. But growing up on her family’s ranch left her with a love of horses that draws her to the opportunity. How bad can babysitting a bunch of strung out celebrities be?

What she didn’t count on was being roped into a tangled mess with infamous rocker and three-time rehab drop out Van Ransom on her first day. And she sure didn’t expect to feel the overwhelming attraction that pulls her to the man who has more issues than she can count on both hands. Like the hotel rooms and tour buses he’s famous for trashing, the havoc he could wreak on Stella’s heart would be irreparable.

Van isn’t at Second Chance for publicity or because he’s suffering from “exhaustion”. He’s on the brink of destruction, and he needs the kind of help Stella isn’t sure she can give. But without her, he'll lose everything. Because he’s on his last second chance.

REVIEW:
4.5 - 5 Stars

I will start right off by saying that I am a huge Caisey Quinn fan. HUGE. I will read anything this lady writes. So to say I was excited to read this book would be an understatement. And the funny part? I had no idea what this book was even about. Yes. I'm THAT much of a fan. I love her writing style and she always manages to captivate my full attention throughout the entire story line. And it was no different with Last Second Chance.

"Do you think everyone deserves a second chance?"

Second chances in life are not always the easiest ones to stomach or the easiest paths to follow...and not everyone gets them. Van Ransom was in a very sticky situation. Rehab or kiss goodbye to his music career. He was NOT happy about this, but he chose to man up and face his dark reality.

Stella Jo never expected to have her life change -- hell, START -- at a job she wasn't even sure she really wanted. Fresh out of college, she was still nursing some wounds from her past and present-ish. But working at a ranch with horses sounded a lot better than going back home to her parents. So she accepted the offer.

"He was broken beyond repair, and Stella Jo Chandler was empty inside."

Upon meeting, quite literally, the chemistry between Van and Stella Jo was beyond evident. The sexual tension was immediately sparked. I could feel it. They clicked. But as always, it couldn't be that easy, now could it? They couldn't just fall in love without any repercussion. Especially when Van's past and Stella's job requirements had a lot of influence on their situation. So no, they didn't have it smooth and easy, but they sure made things HOT....steamy, hot, and oh, so passionate.

As they spent more and more time together, you could see them completing each other. Making each other change for the better...improving their harsh realities together. I was in love with Van and Stella Jo as a couple. To me, they truly did belong together. They faced the bumps in their road together and THAT made me a very happy reader.

Towards the end, I kind of freaked out because I thought it was going to end in a cliffhanger, but THANK YOU BABY JESUS, it did NOT. In fact, this was book one in a series of standalone novels. So YAY! The ending was very much a happy and blissful one, and I loved it. Seeing Van and Stella's journey come full circle, seeing them finally get what they yearned for, was a joy to read.

If you're in the mood for a heartfelt and steamy story, go one-click Last Second Chance now. I truly recommend it.

Let’s start with the most obvious question, shall we?

You’re here, ladies, because you can’t f*ck.

Oh, stop it. Don’t cringe. No one under the age of 80 clutches their pearls.
You might as well get used to it, because for the next six weeks, you’re going to hear that word a lot. And you’re going to say it a lot.
Go ahead, try it out on your tongue.
F*ck. F***ck.

Ok, good. Now where were we?

If you enrolled yourself in this program then you are wholly aware that you’re a lousy lay. Good for you. Admitting it is half the battle.

For those of you that have been sent here by your husband or significant other, dry your tears and get over it. You’ve been given a gift, ladies. The gift of mind-blowing, wall-climbing, multiple-orgasm-inducing sex. You have the opportunity to f*ck like a porn star. And I guarantee, you will when I’m done with you.

And who am I?

Well, for the next six weeks, I will be your lover, your teacher, your best friend, and your worst enemy. Your every-f*cking-thing. I’m the one who is going to save your relationship and your sex life.

I am Justice Drake.
And I turn housewives into whores.

Now…who’s first?

The synopsis was mind boggling hot…..like, it totally made me super excited to read it. It was bold and out there, and the concept of the story was REALLY neat. The cover was released after the blurb and I think I got a little excited. Hello!!?? Have YOU seen it?? C’mon….it was nothing short of panty melting HOT and SEXINESS combined. Sadly, I think that is where the awesomeness stopped for me. Was this a bad book? Absolutely NOT. But when you actually got into the read, it lacked that boldness that we got from the synopsis. It fell short of the lust I felt after the blurb and cover reveal. It felt flat to me….I don’t know exactly how to say it. It just didn’t get me happy…..but it didn’t totally turn me off. It was a very even read…..no huge lead up and not a huge let down in the plot. Just............even.

Justice Drake was a HOT man….and he used this to his advantage. He ran Oasis, a place for women to come to and learn the art of seduction and to learn how to be alluring and sexy, (come to find out it is all in an effort to get their husbands wandering eyes back on THEM). Not a bad concept…not at all. But, in all honesty……I’ll be honest, my husband cheats on me THAT much, and my ass is going to a spa (on his dime)…..not a resort on how to find my ‘sexiness’ and learn how to make him smile. Nope. Nuh uh.

We got to know Ally and her spitfire attitude, but also her fun loving and goofy self. I liked her….I really did. She had attitude and spunk, but some awkward innocence too. She was very quirky and I really liked that side of her. Some of it worked, some of it didn’t. There was an awesome scene in the book that totally had me laughing out loud…..she was dancing, well….at least she was trying to.  OMG. I laughed good and hard!! He was laughing SO HARD at her dancing….and it really was a funny scene. She was fun to read and watch.

Luckily, the song has long ended and changed to something less unfortunate, or I probably would’ve hacked up my spleen.

As we learn about Justice and the fact that he was hiding from something (we were given this assumption throughout the book), we learn that he has an immediate soft spot for Ally. He tried to avoid the emotions he is feeling towards her and is really trying to fight it at every turn.  He is falling harder and harder, and finds himself in some situations that he really shouldn’t be in with her, especially being that she is a married woman……even though he wants her REALLY BAD, he tries to reason with himself.

Sharing a beer or a bowl of ice cream is one thing, but breaking bread with the woman would be just asking for trouble. And I’m fairing just fine in that department on my own, fuck you very much.

We didn’t know what he was hiding from or who, but it was constantly being alluded to. However, at the end….when we found out, it was a bit of a head shaker. Anticlimactic, but I did shake my head. This book was also told strictly in the male POV as well and I feel it was just a tad too ‘soft’ for my liking as well.  Once everything was found out, it spiraled out of control rather quickly for Justice and he had to disappear.

Every kiss is a goodbye. Especially the ones that kill you.

I was really confused at the ending….or miffed. Either will work. Justice left, because once he was ‘found out’, he disappeared. His publicist couldn’t find him and she had been looking for him for weeks. Yet, out of the blue, Ally showed up and knew exactly where he was. Cute ending? Sure….it could be looked at as that, and I could fall into that “awwww” mentality, but it made absolutely no sense to me and I didn’t like it at all. This ending threw the rest of the book out for me. It always makes me sad when the ending is a letdown…..so I am sad, because I really wanted to love this book. There were some laughable moments….good comedic moments, and there were some swoon-worthy moments as well. Justice really was a softy overall, no matter how mean his exterior was.

“I want to consume you, Ally. I want to devour every bit of you until there’s no you and there’s no me. Until we’re nothing but sensation and exhaustion. Until you see music and hear colors.”

I strive to have honest reviews…..reviews are, to me, what make me respect peoples’ opinions on whether or not to take their recommendations on books.  These are also only opinions, and while I may not have connected with or enjoyed this particular book as much as I wanted to, you may absolutely LOVE it. Please take this for what it is. An opinion.

3 even stars…..I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it.

Love,
Bethany

Review:
4.5 Stars

Xander and Ivy’s story was a second chance romance that had me captivated from start to finish. In true Kim Karr fashion, it had twists, turns, and a few surprises along the way – which I loved.

“When you believe a lie for so long…does it become the truth?”

Life, heartache, and misunderstandings had broken up Ivy and Xander once upon a time. And now, years later, they are face-to-face in a situation where they simply can’t avoid each other. Life had once again intervened, but this time in their favor.

“He was everything I didn’t know I wanted and everything I needed.”

Ivy tried her hardest to ignore her feelings for Xander, but really, that was just impossible. Especially, when Xander was all for rekindling what they once had…what they STILL felt. It was not an easy journey for these two. It was a bit of a rollercoaster full of emotional angst where they took two steps forward and three steps back, at times. Just when I thought they would finally get everything sorted out, something would happen or someone would intervene.

Overall, Mended was a great read. The story line kept me engrossed and the characters were as always, amazing. I especially LOVED Xander’s character so, so, so much! His chemistry with Ivy was palpable, his love for her sizzled off the pages, and his devotion for his loved ones was clear as day. Simply put, Xander was uh-mazing…and hot to boot.

The installments in The Connections Series keep getting better and better. If you haven’t already, go one-click them. Really. You’ll love the Karr Men. I sure do. I cannot wait to read the next book!

“Xander Wilde, the boy, may have broken my heart once upon a time…but Xander Wilde, the man, is the one who mended it.”

Being an English major in college, I wanted to teach at the college level but that was not to be. I went on to receive an MBA and became a project manager until quitting to raise my family. I currently work part-time with my husband and full-time embracing one of my biggest passions—writing.

I wear a lot of hats! Writer, book-lover, wife, soccer-mom, taxi driver, and the all around go-to person of the family. However, I always find time to read. One of my favorite family outings use to be taking my kids to the bookstore or the library. Today, my oldest child is in college and my twins are juniors so they no longer go with me on these outings. And although I don’t need to go to the actual store anymore because I have the greatest device ever invented—a Kindle, I still do. There’s nothing like a paperback. So now my four year old and I make dates out of going to the bookstore–it’s time I love and cherish.

I like to believe in soulmates, kindred spirits, true friends, and Happily-Ever-Afters. I love to drink champagne, listen to music, and hopes to always stay young at heart. <3

“Can you do me a favor, brother?” Timber lifts his chin. “What’cha need?” Lifting a nearly empty bottle of beer, Maker motions for the prospect to bring him another. “I was supposed to pick up Little Flower, but I’m too drunk to have her on my bike. Can you run down to the diner and take her home?” “If you knew you had to pick up your daughter, why the hell have you been drinking?” He shrugs. “I didn’t mean to get drunk, but it just happened.” “If you for once put the beer down, it wouldn’t just happen,” Timber mumbles under his breath before looking toward me. “You wanna take a ride?” Nodding, I stand up and follow him outside. “I didn’t know Maker had a kid.” “He’s got a daughter, and she’s probably the prettiest little thing you’ve ever seen. His bitch of a wife keeps her away from the club, so she’s not around much. ” “Lula’s always here. Why doesn’t she let the girl come around?” He slides onto his bike before answering me. “Lula likes to be the center of attention. When her daughter’s around, she’s nothing but a shadow.” I climb onto my bike, wondering what is so special about this kid.

Book Review: "Confessions of a Litigation God" by Sawyer Bennett

Confessions of a Litigation God
A Legal Affairs Full Length Erotic Novel
by Sawyer Bennett

SYNOPSIS:

WARNING, LIMITATION OF LIABILITY AND ASSUMPTION OF THE RISK
FROM MATT CONNOVER, LITIGATION GOD

Please do not attempt to read my story in public, as my sexual proclivities have been known to cause squirming in your seat, squeezing of your legs together and unintentional moaning, sometimes with spontaneous bursts of laughter at random moments. If you are offended by the fact that my oral skills are just as accomplished in the bedroom as they are the courtroom, then this book is not for you. There may be moments while reading my story that you get so turned on… so hot and bothered… that your squirming and moaning could turn maniacal in nature and neither I, nor the author, are responsible for the weird looks you may get. Notwithstanding the aforementioned warnings, if you assume the risk and read my tale in public, then I recommend you carry a spare set of panties with you. You will need them and you have been warned.

My name is Matt Connover. I am a Litigation God.

Other lawyers quake before me. Women crawl on their knees just to spend the night in my bed and when I’m finished with them, I walk away without a backward glance. I am well satisfied with my life and there isn’t a damn thing I’d change about it.

That is, until McKayla Dawson came along.

She was meant to be for one night only.

But she got under my skin, and now I want her back underneath my body.

It’s torture working with her in my law firm… day in and day out. But I have to think maybe the Fates have intervened to throw us together because she is unlike anyone I’ve ever known, and thus I need to pay careful attention to these Legal Affairs.

****

Confessions of a Litigation God is a stand alone, full length erotic novel. It follows the affair of Matt Connover and McKayla Dawson as told in the Legal Affairs Serial Romance, Volumes 1-6. This book is told strictly from Matt's point of view and has many additional scenes not included in the serial volumes. You do not need to have read the Legal Affairs Serial to understand this novel.

REVIEW:
5 STARS

I think that this book is BEST enjoyed after reading the Legal Affairs serial series, but it isn’t necessary….but it makes the book that much more better. It was an awesome book….and living it through Matt’s eyes after reading Mac’s POV was awesome.

Easiest, hands down; best male POV book I have ever read.

Yup….fuck ‘em and leave ‘em. That’s the stuff that dreams are made of. ~Matt

Matt has this way of making sure his life is uncomplicated. He is a brilliant lawyer, he is a sexy lawyer and he is an unattached lawyer. All things that make him who he is….uncomplicated. He doesn’t want or need anything to complicate his life. He is an in-and-out kinda guy. He is a one nighter only kinda guy. He really wants to just have great sex and move onto the next woman to occupy his time with. He has a rule of ‘one night only’ and he abides by this rule religiously.

Okay, she’s clearly missing the part where I’m in control. I call the shots. This is sex…sex only. She has no say-so in what I do, and yes, I realize with absolute clarity that I am being a hypocritical asshole. ~Matt

After reading this story from Mac’s POV in the Legal Affairs, it was truly a treat to see Matt’s side….and when I say he was warring with himself, he seriously was. Matt found something in Mac that he hasn’t seen in ANY.OTHER.WOMAN. Ever. She is sexy and beautiful and she has somehow weaseled her way into his cold emotionless heart…..one that is really soft on the inside, but he hides it very well.

I couldn’t get enough of her….she couldn’t get enough of me. It was insatiability on steroids. ~Matt

He wants unattached sex and she is just the one he wants to give it to. They are explosive. Their sexsions (sex sessions, right??) are ones for the record books. Long….all-nighters that make you giggle and squirm. Matt is sexy personified. He really wants to take care of his woman sexually and he knows just how to do it too!

“What exactly is on your mind tonight?”
Fuck. I could probably get arrested in thirty-seven states for what is on my mind. I bring my hand up and wrap it around the back of her head, my fingers sliding through her silky hair. Pulling her closer to me, I lean in and skim my lips along her jawline, straight toward her ear.
“I’m trying to decide if I want to fuck you in the elevator or wait until we get in the room. Then I’m trying to figure out if I should fuck you missionary or from behind….probably both, and only after I’ve gone down on you.”

Matt was nothing short of hot, and always full of lust and need. He loved being with Mac and truly wanted an easy lay anytime he wanted it….and after realizing that he wanted HER and ONLY her, well that made him freak out a bit. Seeing this relationship go through all that it did through HIS eyes made me see some of his actions for what they truly were about, instead of Mac’s idea of what could be happening. Mac is a very strong girl with her head on straight….she really was a great character. I felt everything that she was doing when I read it in Legal Affairs, and seeing Matt’s side made me understand what she was feeling better and also made me see the ‘other’ side to the story.

Sometimes the backwards way of doing things works for others….and for this couple that started out the way they did (with the dating service) and then moving on and trying to make a relationship out of it, well…..it was truly a backwards way to do it, but it really worked for them and I loved watching this story grow from BOTH sides. I loved this book and I loved Mac and Matt’s story.
The additional scenes that were thrown into this book made it such a treat and really added to the storyline and they were awesome to read. It made it feel like a new book and not a rehash of an already previously written book. Any fans of Mac and Matt’s story will enjoy this book and seeing the other side.

I always find myself saying that I have a new book boyfriend and that I am in love with him (I can’t help it….I love me some good alpha book boyfriends!!), but with these two characters….they truly are made for each other. Mac is the necessary sweetness and sassiness to his coldness and crassness. But….she grounds him. She makes him a better person and we really got to see his inner workings and how he fought with himself and what lengths he went to fight off his own feelings for her. However misguided he was by himself…..his emotions always won. No matter what, the heart knows what the heart wants. His heart won out each time, but not without a little bit of angst and humor, mixed in with some tears and honest self-reflection. This book sits on my list for 2014 as BEST MALE POV book. This one is not to be missed. Sawyer Bennett has never disappointed and this book is proof….she wrote the story from HIS POV and it came across exactly as that….HIS POV.  This book was an awesome book and should not be missed…..especially if you have read The Legal Affairs series and enjoyed it. Funny, witty and sexy wrapped up into an amazing book. I laughed, I teared up and I swooned…..Sawyer did a fantastic job, yet again.

All I want to do is have Mac writhe and squirm under me, have her cry out my name in ecstasy, watch as her body fractures and splinters, and finally floats to earth. ~Matt
