Review:
5 'dark' Stars

"...when you love someone, their problems become your problems, and their pain becomes your pain."

Talk about a book hangover! "Tracks" is a dark, raw, and emotional book that blew me away. I was seriously speechless after I finished it. But I must warn you though, this is not your typical bad boy, rock star romance kind of book. Yes, there's romance and yes, there are hot scenes, but the story line covers some really rough and serious topics.

It all starts with an acceptance letter. Finally having her dream come true, Dylan Ackhart moves to Boston with her best friend Theresa to attend Harvard Law School. I must say, Theresa and Dylan's banter made me giggle. They were total opposites and loved teasing each other.

"I'm just so happy for you," she says in my ear. "I thought you were asexual for a while."

"You? A date?" I say, in mock horror.
"You? Sex?" She says in the same voice. I laugh as she shuts the door."

One night, they go to a rock concert to which Theresa's parents got them front row seats. Little did Dylan know, that night would change her life. There she meets rock star, Jeremy Mason. After literally being trampled by crazy ass fans, Dylan is taken backstage so a doctor can examine her. Wanting to know Dylan, Jeremy asks to speak with her, and this is where the rollercoaster takes off.

As they start spending more and more time together, you notice certain things in Jeremy... you know there's more to him that meets the eye. Honestly, there were moments where I thought their relationship was too messed up. Jeremy was broken and full of secrets and Dylan was too scared to face them and lose him in the process. PLUS, Dylan had her own scars to deal with. So it was pretty stressful.  But at the same time, I was really rooting for them to work things out. They were just so full of passion and love, how could I not want them to get a HEA???

"I don't want anyone else to touch you. I don't want anyone else to feel you ever again. I want your lips, your body, everything to myself. I want to be selfish with you. I want you to be mine, even when I'm gone."

"...goddammit Dylan, I love you. I've never loved anything before in my whole life, except my brother, and that was different. No one makes me feel the way you do. I need you."

I seriously found myself feeling like I wasn't turning the pages fast enough! Wanting to know what Jeremy was hiding... and then, BAM! "WHAT!!!!!!!!!" I mean, I had my theories and all...and yet my heart still sunk! "Oh no no no noooo!!!" I honestly felt like I was watching a train wreck slowly unravel in front of me, yet I could not look the other way*deep sigh*

As far as the ending goes... Sort of  a cliffhanger. It doesn't end abruptly or anything, but there is a lot more to their story. The sequel, "Trials," is expected sometime during August.

This well written book has a style that is different and in a way, gripping and challenging. It evokes certain feelings and might even cause your emotions to run wild... so I guess I kind of get why it's gotten mixed reviews. Not everyone can handle that, if I'm being completely honest. But I really think people should go into this book keeping an open mind. I did, and I LOVED it. In fact, to me, "Tracks" is a phenomenal book

I recommend you read this book

"As unhealthy as our relationship may be, it doesn't make me love him any less."

Excerpt:

I make a disgusted sound in my throat. “I am totally fucked up by what my mother did to me,” I say, still aghast at his reaction to my story.

Fucked up?he questions, confused. “Why? Because you’re shy? Because you’re private? Because you don’t like to be vulnerable? Because you strive to achieve great things to prove you’re good enough to be worth something?

The way he instantly knows me makes me very uncomfortable. I freeze, wide eyed and unable to speak for a moment. How could he see me so clearly? How did this connection between us go so deeply? It was disturbing to me, the understanding between us. It’s deeper than even the physical pull between us, as if the air that separates our bodies is electrically charged. I had worked my whole life to push people away, building up this wall of protection. And yet here is this man, tearing it down and seeing who I am through all the bullshit. Maybe I'm not as good at hiding myself as I thought.

“Yeah,” I finally muttered. “Those reasons are pretty much why.”

“It makes you beautiful. The things you say it created in you... are what attract me to you in this unbelievable way. You’re timid, shy, brilliant, and completely unaware of how amazing you are.”

I go statue still. My heart feels like it’s going to explode at his words. How did our conversation change course so quickly? I don’t know if I’m prepared for this. “Amazing?” I repeat in disbelief.

He smiles a catlike smile, like he’s hunting again. Immediately, my breathing increases. “Oh yes. When I first saw your eyes from the stage,he leans closer to me. I want to both back away and lean toward him at the same time. “I wanted to make them roll back into your head. I wanted to grab your round hips and pull you close to me.” He crouches on the couch, one leg on and one leg off, leaning over me. With his face against my cheek again, he whispers in my ear, “You. Are. Breathtaking.”

Before they can surrender to their sexual desires and find salvation in each other’s arms, they need to come to terms with their past. Mason must confront the demons that have set him on a path of self-destruction, while Emory must decide whether to keep her painful secrets locked away, or expose them and risk losing the love of her life. Review:
4.5 Stars

"What saved her - the only thing that ever saved her - was dancing. First position."

Right at the beginning we meet Emory and Eric. They're probably what the outside world might consider the "perfect couple"... happily making plans for their wedding. But really, it just was Eric pressuring Emory to make a decision she'd been avoiding. After an argument, they end up breaking up... allowing Em to walk away without making another huge mistake in  her life.

Later that night, fate stepped in. Em literally ran into Mason, her college sweetheart... the one that broke her heart, yet the one she could never forget. After spending six years apart, they both realize their feelings are still very much there. Learning from past mistakes while trying to overcome present day drama, Em and Mason decide to give things another shot.

"Please let me go." She tried to wiggle away
"No." He held her tighter. "I'm not letting you go again. I'm still paying for that mistake."

"I never stopped loving you."

Both Mason and Emory have to slowly learn to trust each other and in a way, re-adapt to being in each others lives again. All this while trying to move forward without allowing their past, and the pain that comes along with it, from haunting them.

"This is what I'm supposed to be doing with my life. Making Em happy."

A lot of obstacles, which I won't mention, come between Mason and Em. Secrets surface one after another... well, those minus the huge one Emory was keeping. This was something that kept me turning the pages because I really wanted to know what she was hiding. Let me tell you, Prescott Lane did not let me down.  Even though I had my theories and I kind of had an idea of what it might be, the way it was written, still broke my heart.  I felt so bad for both Emory and Mason.

This great debut novel is full of passion, romance, drama, and secrets. Along with its happy ending, really, what's there not to love about it???!  Also, the fact that its written in a third person POV allows the reader to not only connect with all the characters, but also understand them.

"First Position" is a wonderful story about a second chance at true love that should not be passed up. Go buy this book!
"Our time is just beginning."

Happy Release Day to Elizabeth Lee!!!

Synopsis:

All she wanted to do was forget. Forget the memory of walking in on her boyfriend in the middle of, well, another girl. Forget how she had her entire life planned out. And, forget about being perfect all the time. Unfortunately, she was Whitney Vandaveer and despite the fact that she moved to the middle of nowhere—she couldn't.

He always knew he would never be more than nothing. No job, no money, no future. Cole Pritchett had accepted the fact that he would always be the screw up and he was okay with it. Until he met her.

Here's the thing they quickly found out—sometimes we all need a little help escaping who we think we are.

Review:
4.5 Stars

"The girl you saw tonight is the girl I've been trying to escape."

19 year old Whitney has become the type of girl that does as she's told and acts as she's expected to act. After coming face to face with the reality that her snotty boyfriend, Wesley, was indeed cheating on her, Whit leaves the city and heads for her mother's house in the country. Spending the summer with her mom and younger sister, Mallory, was the best decision she's ever made. There she meets a guy that didn't think much of himself.  A guy escaping his own set of problems. A guy named Cole Pritchett. A guy I completely fell in love with!!!! Just saying...

Once Cole met Whitney, he knew he was in trouble so he tried very hard to keep her at bay. It's safe to say they got off on the wrong foot. But thank goodness Whitney is a stubborn girl and didn't give up!!! As they spend more and more time together, Whitney slowly starts to come out of her shell... starts to live.

"I want so much more from him than just a summer fling. When I feel him press a kiss on the top of my head, it seals the deal. I am falling head over heals in love with this guy."

I promise you'll LOVE Cole!!!!!
He was just amazing with Whit!! They had an incredible chemistry that allowed them to be themselves around each other, allowed them to be free. Their conversations, their banter (super funny by the way), their steamy scenes... everything was just perfect.

"I'd never lie to you or hurt you. I've never wanted anyone as much as I want you, Whitney."

"...I'm probably not good enough for her, but I'd spend every second with her trying to prove that I am."

Both Cole and Whitney had wonderful exes, *ahem* so expect drama in this book... which is always a plus for me. The secondary characters - Mallory and Zeke? Fun and funny!! Whitney and Mallory's mom?! Amazing! She had such a great lifestyle, attitude, and always stood by her daughters.

Towards the ending, I panicked for a while but then everything seemed to fall into a happy place. Though I have to admit, the literal ending left me wanting more.

I had a very hard time putting "Escaping Me" down. Loved Cole, loved Whitney, loved the secondary characters, and finally, I LOVED the story line!
I recommend this book.

"I love you so much that it scares me."

Excerpt!!
and a HOT one indeed..

Opening the door to the suite, I found a beautiful creature in my bed with the hottest body I’d ever seen. She was wearing white thigh highs, a short plaid skirt, and a white top. It was a classic school girl outfit and I loved it. Everything about her was perfect, but everything about her was wrong.

“Mackenzie! What the hell are you doing?”

“I’m giving you your birthday present, Senator Joseph.”

The way she said my name made my dick rock hard again.

“Mackenzie, this is completely inappropriate.”

“Who gives a fuck if it’s appropriate or not,” she said, rubbing her thighs together. “And I know you want me. I saw how you were looking at me earlier. I even know what you’re into.”

My stomach dropped. Could she mean she knew about my sexual preferences? “What are you talking about?”

“Oh, I know. I overheard my father talking once.” She got off the bed and walked over to me, her eyes never leaving mine as she crossed the room. She grabbed hold of my tie and began running her fingers over it. “I know exactly what you are into, Senator Joseph.”

“Mackenzie, you’re what…sixteen years old?” I questioned, grabbing her wrist and removing her hand from my tie.

“Sixteen? You sent me a graduation present last year,” she laughed. “I’m nineteen. My birthday was just last week.”

She was legal. I’m sure she said more, but all I heard was that she was nineteen. I had also caught something else she said a moment ago. She’d mentioned that she knew what I was “into,” and I needed to know what she meant.

“What is it you think I’m into?” I asked with more authority than I felt at that moment.

“You like to tie up little girls and fuck them. Isn’t that right, Senator?”

Her words made my dick twitch. The summary wasn’t exactly accurate; I didn’t like actual little girls, just women in their early twenties who were willing to dress up for my fantasies. What I gathered from her statement, though, was that she wasn’t repulsed; she sounded excited at the thought.

There were a million reasons I shouldn’t do this. She was barely legal. She was the daughter of my top advisor…and best friend. I wasn’t prepared. We didn’t have any sort of contract. I had no clue what her limits were. It just seemed wrong, yet all of that flew out the window when she looked up at me and licked her lips.

“Don’t you wanna tie me up and fuck me, Senator Joseph?”

Consequences be damned. I wasn’t thinking with my head, I was thinking with my dick. And my dick wanted her. “On your knees, little girl,” I commanded harshly.

She dropped to the floor instantly; when she did, I walked around her and pulled her hands behind her back. “So you want to be tied up? To offer yourself to me? To please me?”

“Yes,” she panted.

“Yes, what?” I asked, removing my tie.

“Yes, Sir,” she moaned.

“Yes, Daddy,” I corrected.

“Yes, Daddy.”
