Book Review: "Private Message" by Danielle Torella

Private Message

Synopsis:

Tess has never had sex. Believe it or not, she’s never had a decent kiss.
The aspiring Seattle painter and photographer is still recovering from the trauma of being beaten and nearly raped at a rock show nearly three years before. So she keeps life simple: she goes to school, goes to work in a coffee shop, goes home, goes on living.
But then Ben’s naked body crashes—almost literally—through Tess’s wall against the world.
Ben is doing his dad’s art-teacher girlfriend a favor when he agrees to pose nude for her drawing class. But what he draws is the interest of the irresistible punk-looking girl—and it’s interest he reciprocates, with interest.
Their sexual chemistry is too much to resist. But it’s when they have their clothes on that their heat quickly slips on ice. Ben’s womanizing history is one thing, but it’s history of another kind—related to that fateful night at the rock show—that threatens to tear the young lovers apart forever.

"1 Private Message"

"Private Message" is a book with a unique and creative concept. Props to the author!

Tess - funny and artistic, 22 year-old virgin that has gone through a couple of things that have made her want to live life in a simple and quiet way.
One night, after a stressful art class, Tess goes into a club hoping to grab a quick drink and go home relaxed.  She happened to walk into "Chatz". A club where you logged into a chatroom and basically coordinated your hook-up for the night. There, she meets Erin, her new open-minded, funny, and honest friend. Erin explains how things work at the club and creates a user name for Tess, telling her along the way about the other people at the club. This is how she's made aware of Ben.
Little did she know, her life was about to change.

"His eyes shoot to mine and I die. No really, my heart just stopped."

"Oh God he's British! Can my panties drop any faster?"

Tess and Ben have an intense connection that leads them to quickly develop what you could call a relationship. But, with both having their issues, things don't go so smoothly.

"I want you. I want you so bad, it actually hurts. I am physically aching for you."

"I have never felt like this before. There is something you do to me, Tess. I can't get enough... obviously."

Along the way, secrets get revealed.. and minor plot twists lead up to a big one towards the end which, honestly, I did not see coming.

Overall, I really liked the idea behind the book. Like I said in the beginning, it's unique and creative and I even found myself laughing at times while reading.
However, I feel that the entire book was quite rushed which in my opinion, didn't allow proper plot and character development. So that kinda threw me off. I also didn't really love the ending.. but rest assured, it was a happy one

That being said, I still think it's a generally enjoyable book and I will be reading the sequel. I'm very much interested in seeing where life takes Tess and Ben.

"You have my heart. Forever."

***ARC was given in exchange for an honest review. Thanks Danielle :)

About the Author:
Danielle Torella

"Hi! I am Danielle live in Western New York with my husband and two sons. I never knew I had a dream to become a writer until I started becoming obsessed with reading in the last two years. The obsession began with Twilight and then matured to Fifty Shades. While used to reading mainstream best sellers, found a new love for indie authors. I love to do paintings related to the books I read and eventually turning into Pushy Girl Paintings and now do work for other indie writers and readers. My first book idea started from a dream I had one night and became obsessed with the story and started writing. Now having arguments with the people in my head and loving every moment of it, even when they take control of the story."
