Blog Tour Stop + Giveaway: "A Four Letter Word" by Michelle Lee

Synopsis:

Zoey has had a crush on Evan since they first met in high school, but has never acted on those feelings. She has always felt she wasn’t Evan’s type and their friendship means too much to her to jeopardize. At a Halloween party, Zoey meets Griffin, something Evan isn’t too happy about. Zoey and Griffin’s budding relationship grows into something Zoey never thought she would find, that four letter word, love. When she is ready to marry Griffin, Evan decides to let his true feelings be known. Ultimately, Zoey has to decide, marry the one the currently loves, or be with the one she’s always loved.

Review:
4.5 Stars

"There is one word, however, consisting of four harmless little letters. Alone and separate from each other, they have no power and only communicate sounds. But, when they strung together in the right order, they have meaning and depth and power. Above all else, they are explosive."

A sweet, romantic, and truly beautiful story that will make you smile. In A Four Letter Word we're taken through Zoey and Evan's journey. The best friends that have always been in love each other, yet have never accepted those feelings. Doubts, fears, and essentially, life always getting in their way.

Throughout the book, we're taken back-and-forth in time. We get to experience Zoey and Evan in high school, which is where they met, we get a few past memories of them during college, and of course, present day.  The way this book was written - so natural, so real - made it super easy for me to feel everything Zoey felt and experienced. All those butterflies, her heartbreaks, even her frustrations.

"I'm just Zoey. I'm just his best friend."

At a Halloween party, everything changes for Zoey and Evan. Zoey meets Griffin. To say that doesn't go well with Evan, would be putting it mildly. Throughout the years, they've both dated other people, but this time it's different. From that moment on, their friendship went on the bumpiest ride ever. All those years spent together were quickly put to the test. And my heart just sunk. It literally broke for Zoey and Evan.

"My worst nightmare has become a reality; I've completely lost my best friend."

There were moments where I kind of wanted to slap some sense into both of them, moments where I wanted to just shake them... but then, there was also Griffin. And let me tell you, that guy is dreamy!!! I felt so torn between Evan and Griffin. I wanted Zoey to be with Evan but dammit!!! Griffin was making things difficult... he treated Zoey like a princess. How could I not love him, too?

As I turned the pages, all I kept thinking was, how is this author going to work things out? Sheesh!! I could've come up with a million theories and never in my life would I've even imagined what ended up happening. I was floored. Yep. That twist towards the end?? WHOA! I did NOT see that coming... at allWHAT!?! It literally made my jaw drop to the floor. Props to the author!

This book had me laughing, smiling, feeling antsy, at times frustrated and heart broken, but it generally warmed my heart. That ending was just beautiful. It's what true love is all about.  I recommend this book to all romance lovers!

"You have always had my heart, and I can't live without it - without you. I'm home with you."

Excerpt

There is chit-chat all around us. People talking about what they did over the summer, what classes they have. My attention is suddenly drawn to the door, as if I had no choice but to look, and when I do, I see the most beautiful boy I have ever seen in my entire life. His looks rival that of any movie star. His hair is a mess on top of his head, it’s nearly jet black, with purplish highlights shining in the fluorescent lights; it slightly hangs in his eyes.  It looks super soft and I just want to run my fingers through it to find out. His jeans hit low on his hips, and the gray t-shirt he's wearing hugs his torso, showing off his lean, muscular form. His eyes scan the room, and he nods to someone off to the right, making his way towards them. Never seeing me. My heart is racing.
"Erica, who is that?" I nod to the beautiful boy as he makes his way to his seat.
"Oh, that? That's Evan 'the jerk' Harris." She doesn't hide the disdain in her voice.
"The jerk?"
"Well, that's what I've heard. I've never met him, but from what I've heard, he's a piece of work."
Too bad.
