(Real #3)
Synopsis:
Underground fighter Remington Tate is a mystery, even to himself. His mind is dark and light, complex and enlightening. At times his actions and moods are carefully measured, and at others, they spin out of control.
Through it all, there's been one constant: wanting, needing, loving, and protecting Brooke Dumas. This is his story; from the first moment he laid eyes on her and knew, without a doubt, she would be the realest thing he's ever had to fight for.

4 - 4.5 Stars
When I first
read Real by Katy Evans…..I got my first book hangover, ever.
EVER. It was amazing and I couldn’t read
a book for TWO days!! Then I got to read Remy, and that one was equally
amazing. Now, I sit down and finish Remy and my head is spinning. I loved the
fact that we got to see this whole story from Remington’s POV and it truly felt
like it was coming from a guys’ POV….choppy in some points, raw in others….but
so totally Remy. Every last bit of it.
I personally
have a thing for Remy….I have since Real. I fell in love and I haven’t been let
down once in reading any of these books.
Everything about him, to me, screamed alpha….superior, primal, raw, deep,
intense…..ALPHA. He was everything for Brooke and he made sure of it.
Now, since we have all read Real, we know the back story….Brooke catches Remy’s
eyes, Brooke meets Remy, Brooke works for Remy, Brooke falls in love with Remy,
Brooke breaks Remy’s heart. Seeing
Remy’s side of the story broke my heart into tiny little pieces and then loved
it all back together. Yes…loved it back together. Because, honestly…the love
between Brooke and Remy was so REAL, so intense and so deep, that nothing could
keep them apart. I loved being able to read HIS side and seeing a different
angle to the story. He is still very sexy and very impressive. He has a heart
of gold with a platinum lining. He is just…..Remy.
We all know
how possessive he is. We know that he is all about making Brooke his….and
making sure the world knows Brooke is his. Right after he met her for the first
time….his thoughts:
I want to smell the fuck out of her
‘cause it gets me all cranked up and nothing has ever cranked me up like her
scent just did. I want the joy of looking at her and touching her and I want.
To make. Her. Mine.
I don’t know what it is about this
woman but all I’ve been able to think of since the first moment I spotted her
is hunt. Chase. Claim. Take.
See…..?? Primal. (and super hot!) There is
just something about the way he talks about her. He is very raw, and it shows
in his thinking and his struggles with his inner self and his deep pull towards
Brooke. There is the side of FEAR that we see that comes out as well….Remy’s
fear of Brooke finding out ‘what’ he is.
I loathe thinking I’m going to make
her mine and the day my dark side catches up with me, she’ll be done, her walls
will be up and she won’t let me in, and I will be forever every woman’s
adventure. A sex god and a plaything. Nobody’s real. Nobody’s choice. Nobody’s
anything.
His fear of
losing her consumed him on the inside….and his history plays a big part in it.
He didn’t have a family life growing up….it was pretty shitty. He doesn’t
understand the ins and outs of love and what it does to you.
I don’t know the name of this, or
maybe I do. It’s the one thing in my life I don’t plan on fighting. For the
first time in my life I’m thinking of things other than fucking and fighting. I
want to take care of this girl.
I loved
seeing his side of ALL that has happened in the last two books….I think the
ONLY thing that I felt that we missed out on seeing was his realization when
Brooke shows up at his fight dressed in old lady garb. I would have loved to have seen that from his POV. It
would have just made me laugh.
There isn’t
a lot you can say about a POV change that you haven’t already seen in the first
two books. This was a great addition to the series and I think that it was a
good read because it allowed us to see and actually feel his speedy self….his
manic self…..his depressed self. We
heard from him as he recognizes what is happening. We get inside his head,
which was a really good change. I really
enjoyed the jump from the past (re-living their relationship through his eyes)
and the present day, it was a back and forth chapter change. I loved seeing
this style. It was different for me and kept me engaged.
I give this POV change 4-4.5 stars.
Love,
Bethany
