Blog Tour Stop + Giveaway! "The Christmas Wish" by Katy Regnery

(Heart of Montana #1.5)
Synopsis:

Waitress Tess Branson has earned a bad reputation, and the nickname "Fast Tessie," as result of her poor judgment where men are concerned. Tess learned from a young age that men – of all ages – were interested in one thing from her and one thing only. But all Tess ever really wanted was to connect with someone special – to mean something to someone. Lucas Flynn, the short order cook at the restaurant where Tess works, has just been released on parole. He’s trying to get his life back on track, but can’t help noticing the pretty waitress who treats him kindly, despite his past. At Lucas’s urging, Tess makes a wish on a star, but they’ll have to rely on the magic of Christmas to help it come true.

The Christmas Wish is a novella and can be read as a standalone.

Review:
5 Stars!

A quick and short, yet truly romantic and beautiful story. “The Christmas Wish” is yet another perfect read for the Holidays by Katy Regnery!

“You can put lipstick on a pig,” she whispered. “But it’s still a pig.”

Tess is a waitress we briefly met in “By Proxy” (Heart of Montana, book one). She had a horrible reputation and because of her troubled past, she didn’t think she was worthy of being loved. People treated her badly and judged her as if they knew her. But, boy were they all wrong. Tess was the nicest and sweetest person in that little town in Montana. Unfortunately for her, where relationships and love were concerned, all she ever experienced and knew, was being used and then tossed aside by men. Until Lucas Flynn.

Lucas, the short order cook at the diner where Tess worked, was protective -- quite the alpha, sweet, pure at heart, and just as broken as Tess was. He had been in jail for, what in my opinion, was an honorable act. I won’t say what he did because I don’t want to spoil any of the details for you, but just know that he wasn’t a “criminal” or just another “ex-con”. Right off the bat, I had a soft spot for him. The way he looked after and defended Tess, really made me swoon and smile while reading.

“I love you. I’m not going anywhere unless you’re going with me, because you’re my destination. Wherever you are, I’m home.”

Tess and Lucas -- two broken souls that healed each other. They were each other’s missing piece. The way “The Christmas Wish” was written, made me feel as if I had been reading about these characters for a while now… like I already knew them. I knew in my heart that their feelings towards each other were deep, real, and genuine. I desperately wanted them to get the happy ending they so much deserved. My heart yearned for it.

“Her ridiculous wish – the wish he’d told her to make on a star – had suddenly, unbelievably, come true.”

Katy Regnery managed to evoke certain emotions out of me under 50 pages that sometimes full length novels don’t. It’s as simple as that. I was captivated from the very beginning, felt a connection with the characters and storyline, and at the end, I couldn’t be happier with the ending. Yep. It’s that well written. This author can really write beautiful romance! Lucas and Tess’ story is one that will stay with me for time to come.
Katy Regnery, I’m a fan!

About the Author:
Katy Regnery

KATY REGNERY, winner of several regional RWA contests, has always loved telling a good story and credits her mother with making funny, heartwarming tales come alive throughout her childhood. A lifelong devotee of all romance writing from Edwardian to present-day, it was just a matter of time before Katy tried her hand at writing a love story of her own.

As it turned out, one love story turned into a series of five Heart of Montana romances, following the love lives of the Yellowstone-based Lindstrom siblings. In addition to small-town contemporary romance, Katy is presently writing a paranormal romance that takes place in northern New England and the forests north of Quebec.

Speaking of forests, Katy lives in the relative-wilds of northern Fairfield County, Connecticut where her writing room looks out at the woods and her husband, two young children and two dogs create just enough cheerful chaos to remind her that the very best love stories of all are the messy and unexpected ones.
