I read this book when I was in middle school and was immediately hooked!!
If you are wary about “vampire novels” believe me the book is not centralized on the ‘vampire society concept’ instead it’s based on character development and complicating plot.
One of the things I loved most about this book was the suspense throughout the story and the complex plot.
The forbidden love element in the book was a remarkable plus and sometimes made my heart ache like it was happening to me. Besides the amazing forbidden romance, you have the fantastic duo Lissa and Rose, talk about girl power!
Years later it is still a must re-read for me. And if you finish VA you will probably read the whole series.
In recent news, it was released that it is going to be adapted into a movie in which Zoey Deutch, Lucy Fry, and Danila Kozlovsky were cast as Rose Hathaway, Lissa Dragomir, and Dimitri Belikov respectively. The title has since been changed to Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters.
The release date is tentatively set for February 14, 2014.
