One Week Girlfriend by Monica Murphy

One Week Girlfriend (Drew + Fable, #1)

One Week Girlfriend
(One Week Girlfriend #1)

Synopsis:
Breakout sensation Monica Murphy takes the New Adult genre by storm with the deeply emotional, completely addicting story of Drew and Fable.

Temporary. That’s the word I’d use to describe my life right now. I’m temporarily working double shifts—at least until I can break free. I’m temporarily raising my little brother—since apparently our actual mother doesn’t give a crap about either of us. And I always end up as nothing but the temporary girlfriend—the flavor of the week for every guy who’s heard the rumor that I give it up so easily.

At least Drew Callahan, college football legend and local golden boy, is upfront about it. He needs someone to play the part of his girlfriend for one week. In exchange for cash. As if that’s not weird enough, ever since he brought me into his world, nothing really makes sense. Everyone hates me. Everyone wants something from him. And yet the only thing Drew seems to want is . . . me.

I don’t know what to believe anymore. Drew is sweet, sexy, and hiding way more secrets than I am. All I know is, I want to be there for him—permanently.

"I want you to pretend to be my girlfriend for a week." - Drew Callahan

A strange request that started it all..
For Fable, spending Thanksgiving break with Drew at his family's house was money she desperately needed to take care of her younger brother since her alcoholic mother was anything but a mother.  But for Drew, this was a desperate need for protection.

Drew and Fable couldn't be more opposite.  He's a rich and popular athlete while she's the "town slut" (or so were the rumors) working at a bar trying to stay afloat while paying the bills her mom didn't care enough to pay.

Before either of them could realize, they had gotten under each other's skin.

"She confuses me. What I think, what I feel when she's around, confuses me. And i don't even know her. I'm totally getting ahead of myself and I don't know how to stop it."

When they arrive at his parent's house, Fable had no clue what she was about to face or why Drew had felt so desperate as to hire her to be his pretend girlfriend...but the way Drew reacts, his nervousness and anxiety could only serve as a clue.

"...I know you're not going to tell me what's wrong with you, or why you hate your family so much, but I get it.  I totally get it and if you need to get away from them, even for five minutes, I'll help you.  We should have a code word or something."

"Marshmallow"

They could have come from totally different worlds, but Fable soon realized that they had a lot more in common.. They both came from messed up families. And boy was Drew's screwed up!
During the week, secrets.. and I mean HUGE SECRETS begin to unravel...

"If I told you the truth, you'd hate me." His voice was harsh, his expression pained. "I hate me for what I've done."

BUT, Fable and Drew only seem to connect even more.

"My cell beeps, indicating I have a text message and I pull the phone away from my ear to check real quick. It's from Drew. And it's only one word. Marshmallow."

"The moment I see her, I let go of the ball of anxiety rolling around in my chest with a deep, cleansing breath."

"The slow kisses give way to hot, frantic ones. His fingers are so tight in my hair it hurts, but I don't care. I'm starving for him and I want more. I want everything he can give me."

Even if it was just after ONE WEEK, they found in each other what they needed most out of life. Fable definitely needed Drew as much as he needed her.

Overall... Loved the book!!!! A total page turner!!!
Something refreshingly different about "One Week Girlfriend" is the fact that Fable was more of an Alpha character than Drew.. something you don't see much in books now days. Though Drew had his moments don't get me wrong.. but Fable was just more independent and strong.
The story is told from both points of views.. always a huge plus for me because you get the WHOLE story, not just one side.

WARNING!
This book ends in a CLIFFHANGER!!!!!

If you are anything like me, and HATE them and you don't have book 2, 'Second Chance Boyfriend', then don't read it until you do.. TRUST ME :) I am SO thankful that I waited to read this once book 2 was out! I was supposed to write this review after finishing the book but that ending did not allow me!!! I had to start the second one immediately!!
It was a total MARSHMALLOW moment!!

One Week Girlfriend Series

Second Chance Boyfriend (Drew + Fable, #2)
Second Chance Boyfriend
(One Week Girlfriend #2)

Synopsis:

**Recommended for ages 17+ due to sexual content and language, mature subject matter** New Adult Contemporary

Lost. That one single word best describes my life at this very moment. I lost the last games of the season and both my team and my coach blame me. I lost the last two months because I drowned in my own despair like a complete loser. And I lost the only girl who ever mattered because I was afraid being with me would destroy her.

But now I realize how truly lost I am without her. She has become my story…and even though she acts like she’s moved on, I know she still thinks about me just as much as I think about her. She’s beautiful, sweet—and so damn vulnerable, all I want to do is help her. Be there for her.

Love her…

If only I could convince Fable to give me a second chance. Then I wouldn’t feel so lost anymore, and neither would she. We could be found together.

Forever.
