Book Review: "Bad Things" by R.K. Lilley

Bad Things (Tristan & Danika, #1)

Bad Things
(Tristan & Danika, Book 1)
SYNOPSIS:
Danika hasn’t had an easy life. Being insanely attracted to bad boys has never helped make it easier.

One look at Tristan, and every brain cell she possessed went up in smoke. This man was trouble with a capital T. It was a given.

She knew better. Bad boys were bad. Especially for her. Considering her history, it was crazy to think otherwise. So why did crazy have to feel so damn fine?

For as long as she could remember, Danika had been focused on the future with single-minded purpose. Tristan came along and taught her everything there was to know about letting go, and living in the present. She fell, hard and deep. Of course, that only made her impact with the ground that much more devastating.

Bad Things is about Tristan and Danika, and their train wreck of a love story. This series can be read as a standalone, or with the Up in the Air series.

Bad Things is a full length novel, at roughly 105,000 words.

This book is intended for ages 18 and up

Review:
6 hot Stars

"I knew that we were going to be a dangerous combination. Bad things were going to happen if we spent too much time around each other."

R.K. Lilley blew my mind with 'Bad Things'!!

Holy cow!! What a phenomenal book!!!!!!!!! After I finished it, I seriously did NOT know what to do with myself. I just sat there like a complete moron letting it all sink in...slowly.

I LOVE TRISTAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He made it all the way to my top list of book boyfriends...along with Gideon, Travis, and Christian :) Very happy reader here!!

So, about this wonderful book.

Tristan and Danika meet and they have an instant attraction but, due to differences in how they "do" relationships or rather "don't do" (in Tristan's case), they decide to just be friends. HA! FUNNY! Like that would last! pffft. Specially with how protective Tristan was with Danika.

"So you two aren't... dating?" Kenny asked Tristan, shooting him a glance. "We're not, but don't get any ideas. None of you knuckleheads are allowed to go near her. Spread the word."

You could totally feel their chemistry...their lust. They really wanted each other.  And their SEXUAL BANTER !!???!  Seriously!! I've never laughed so hard!! The list they make to keep their friendship safe... OMG !! So funny!! Specially when they get to #7 !! I seriously giggled for a while...even now, just remembering it.

"Don't worry about poor old me. I like my vibrator just fine. Better than any cock that's ever come near me, in fact." He closed his eyes, lowered his head, and held up one finger as though he needed a moment. I giggled, because I had been trying to torment him, and I saw by the oversize bulge in his jeans that I'd succeeded."

The more time they spent together, the more difficult their "friendship" thing became.  Which of course, it eventually ended up going out the window...but, a very important question remained. What exactly were they!? Danika didn't do 'casual' and Tristan didn't do 'relationships'.. ..

Oh and yessss. This book is REALLY HOT! Like FIRE BURNING kind of HOT!!!

"I want you to let go. I want you to submit. I want to make you lose your mind. I want you to be so far gone that the only word left in your vocabulary is my name."

As usual, with the sex, even if it's veeeeeeery good sex, comes the drama...and in this book?? We get a lot of drama and angst!! A lot of page-turning events going on!

When I met Danika and Tristan in the Up in the Air Trilogy, I knew their story would be amazing and I was automatically intrigued and beyond curious. I was NOT let down with this book! I swooned, squirmed, cursed, got antsy, got pissed, cried!!! I mean, I was on one hell of an emotional roller coaster, yet I did NOT wanna get off!!!

And just when I thought things couldn't get any more emotional, R.K Lilley totally bitch slapped me! Those final chapters??????? Holy fu...!!! Those were just intense!!!!

But relax!!!!

There isn't a relationship cliffhanger in this book!!!!
Obviously, there's a lot more to Danika and Tristan's story, but it ends in a good place.

"Bad Things" time line takes place before 'In Flight' from the Up in the Air Trilogy so if you haven't read those books, you can still read this one since it doesn't contain any spoilers. Though it was fun seeing some of the characters, like Frankie and yummy James Cavendish.

If you already did read the Up in the Air Trilogy, then after you finish this book, you'll just know what to expect from the second book 'Rock Bottom'.  I bet it'll be just as angsty and emotional, if not more.  EEEEEEEKKK I seriously canNOT wait!!!!

"I don't just love you, I need you, and I don't begin to know how that's ever going to stop."
