Synopsis:

Oh, my. Tessa Teevan can sure write some
swoon-worthy men! That’s 2 for 2 on the yummy department – Jace and now, KNOX! Hell
yeah! WIN!

Even though each book is a standalone, I do highly recommend
you read Ignite, book one – Jace and
Lexi’s story, first. The characters connect from book to book and there’s a
general story line that makes up the series. It is in Ignite where we first meet Knox as Jace’s best friend and right off
the bat we see that he has issues where relationships are concerned. I really
cannot blame him. I too, would hate the thought of falling in love again after
being betrayed like he had been a little over a decade ago.
To say I was highly anticipating Knox’s book would not do my
enthusiasm justice. I was beyond excited to see who would be the one to
make Knox realize that his ex-girlfriend and current sister-in-law (yep!!) was not worth all his resentment.
This books starts off in a scene we get in Ignite. The boys are on a mission in
Afghanistan where things don’t go as planned. Knox ends up hurt with a broken
back and arm, no less. Once back in the states, he’s told he will need help
getting through the day until he is fully recovered. Hell, he can’t even
shower! He is that injured.
His younger brother, Cohen, (who is just as adorable, FYI)
steps up to help. Unfortunately, their time is cut short since he has to go
back to college just in time for finals. Before leaving, he sets things up for
a volunteer to come and assist Knox.
Enter Charlie. I
LOVE HER. She is such a strong female character! She does not take any crap
from anyone and even though she’s
been hurt by her ex-fiancé, she holds her head high. She’s sweet, caring, and
down to earth. Charlie is just what Knox needs in his life...whether he likes
it or not. To say they get off on the wrong foot would be putting in
nicely.
They both quickly get under each other’s skins in the wittiest
ways. Their banter and sarcasm is quite funny! Ha! They are both class-A smart
asses and even though neither would admit it out loud, the sexual tension
between them?? Phew!! HOT! You can totally tell they want each other.
“We’re a fucking pair, and she doesn’t even
know it yet.”
Some time passes and Knox and Charlie fall into a
comfortable routine. They really get to know
each other. They talk about things they normally don’t share with anyone. They
begin to see each other for who they really are. They realize they
are more alike than they could have ever imagined.
As their relationship progresses, we see Knox come out of
his shell. We see him let go of all the hurt and anger he’s been carrying
around for 11 years…and all thanks to Charlie’s love and support. She is there for him in more ways than one.
Just as he is there for her. We see
them face certain things together and grow both individually and as a couple.

place, the way we’re meant to. And I’m tired of fighting it. I don’t want to anymore.”

Well anyway…. As for the ending? I practically grinned
through the entire epilogue. The book ends in true Charlie and Knox fashion!! Buh-lieve
me, it’s perfect. I absolutely loved it!
“You have me, sweetheart. You always will.”
One HUGE plus for me about this book is the fact that we get
more of Lexi and Jace’s story. On top of that, we see the next book, Inflame, which is Lucy and Kale’s story,
build up. I cannot wait to see what
Tessa has up her sleeve with those two!! So see? Like I mentioned above, even
though the books are technically stand-alone novels, they need to be read in
order. But honestly, what it all comes down to is the fact that Tessa Teevan is an author you should not
miss! Her writing flows naturally and truly captivates you.
I cannot recommend her books highly enough!
