Book Review: "Mitigation" by Sawyer Bennett

Mitigation
(Legal Affairs #4)
Synopsis:
I’ve seen a new side to Matt Connover. He’s proven to me that there is something inside him other than icy control and masculine force.

I’ve seen care… tenderness… even protectiveness.

I’ve seen vulnerability.

But Matt Connover’s issues run deep. I know Cal hurt him deeply, and he keeps himself protected because of that. I also sense there is something more to his pain that even I cannot comprehend.

Matt is struggling between what he knows and what he wants.
I’m struggling with boundaries and how to protect my own fragile heart.

This time I’m drawing a line in the sand and Matt can either step over to join me, or these Legal Affairs are finished forever.

Review:
5 Stars

Once again, Sawyer does an excellent job continuing this story of Mac and Matt on….it flows so smoothly. With a two week break in between each book, you don’t feel like you are lost or need to catch up when you jump to the next installment. I love that her writing is so smooth and (what seems) effortless. This is truly such a great series.

We left book 3 with Mac in the hospital with her mother and Matt has shown up. Who would have thought he had a heart? Not too sure he has one….but we are seeing glimpses of it.

“Thank you for coming,” I say in a small voice. “You really didn’t have to.”
“I know,” is all he says, and then the subject is closed.

Matt was there for Mac and soothed her during a very difficult time in her life and, I must say, I really liked seeing this side of him. I am extremely fond of the very alpha and very powerful side of him, but I really enjoyed seeing this protective caring side to him as well. He is so delicious, I tell you….delicious!! So Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde of him!!  We definitely saw this in him on more than one occasion, but he ramped it up during this book.

The first few books had me laughing….and swooning, and then laughing again. This series is nothing short of hot. Matt is so heavenly and Mac is so very sexy and alluring, but very strong….except for where Matt is involved. He makes her weak in the knees.

Now my doorbell rings, and I want to kick myself in the ass for the way my blood fires up, knowing Matt is on the other side. Tonight will be the same—wonderfully hot sex with an emotionally closed-off man. As you can see, there are pros and cons to this scenario. ~Mac

Saying no to him is next to impossible, until her heart can’t take it anymore and she decides she needs to protect herself. This book had me seeing a whole different side to the emotions being played and the feelings that were being felt on BOTH sides of this so-called relationship.

When Mac had to protect her heart, it made Matt see red…he definitely did not like it. He didn’t think she had it in her to walk away, and she was determined to prove it to herself and him. This book was very emotional and I really enjoyed seeing this one play out. There were so many highlighted passages in this one….I couldn’t figure out what to use and not give away the story! THAT good.

If I didn’t already love Sawyer Bennett, I might have to stalk her after this series….I love the way she writes, the way she tells a story and most definitely the way she twists things and makes you feel every emotion, from comical to heartbreak.

5 emotional stars….I need MORE!!

***An ARC of "Mitigation" was provided in exchange for an honest review. Thanks!!***

Bethany
