This book
starts out with a BANG! The story picks up where Sizzle left off….Callie,
Donovan and Reece are very hot and oh-so-heavy in a ménage a trois. The fact that it started out this way paced
the entire story for hot and salacious sex scenes, from beginning to end. If
there is ONE thing Lexi does really well, it is that she can write some steamy
sex scenes that leave you flustered.
From the
minute Thalia introduced me to Reece, I had wet panties and was ready to make a
fool of myself. Then she introduced me to Donovan, and the look he’d shot me
had me wanting to drop to my knees and beg them to take me. ~Callie
Reece and
Callie had a hot and heavy, but very quick beginning that ended with her
getting hurt because he ran out on her to Dal’s rescue. He left her…..for
another girl? She was heartbroken. Callie didn’t know how to carry on, and her
path kept crossing with Reece’s….but they had to talk it through. Reece tried
to deal with his feelings and what was going on to let her move on, but he
found himself really drawn to Callie and couldn’t let go of her. He found that
he really liked Callie, but he also knew that he wasn’t good enough for her and
felt was going to screw up any chance he had with her….he had already proven
that. He wanted to see if he could get her out of his system since he couldn’t
have her, but that was proving harder than he originally thought. He even tried
to use a girl at a concert of his….tried.
Callie is a
thorn in my side. Since I’ve been with her I haven’t been with anyone else.
I’ve tried, but she’s under my skin and I need her out. I’m not good enough for
her; that’s what it basically comes down to, and it’s killing me. ~Reece
This story
goes back and forth with the breaking up and getting back together, loaded with
super hot, super sexy love scenes….I’m telling you, they were allllllways
making each other moan in pleasure. Always. They definitely found what worked
for them in the bedroom and it went with them everywhere….picnics, back rooms,
bathrooms…..they had ‘fun’ anywhere, and it was quite hot. But, sadly enough, they couldn’t keep their
relationship on track….it was like watching a train wreck. You couldn’t look
away, but you just shook your head. They were meant for each other. They truly
had something with each other; they just needed to get past the jealousy,
immature and wayward thoughts that kept plaguing their relationship.
When
Callie decides this last breakup is the final straw, she moves home to get
Reece out of her system. It’s been a
long few weeks away from Reece and they are both suffering…..until Reece
decides to chase her. Finally. However, more drama ensues and Reece gets to be
her knight in shining armor. Reece is
scared of what Callie provokes in him feelings-wise, and he needs to come to
terms with it. He is so worried about being seen as a softy, or
“pussy-whipped”, but he can’t fight his feelings for her anymore either.
You frighten the life out of me,” he mumbles. “But you’re mine because it would kill me to see you with anyone else…I just hope like hell I don’t screw it up.” He kisses me again, still keeping his lips against the top of my head.
I have tears
in my eyes listening to him. My big badass guy frightened of little me.
One thing
I found neat was that another story was thrown IN this book, but it’s another
series by another author. Hilary Storm’s Rebel
Walking series is introduced in this book and I found it very neat that
they intertwined. I also loved that Lexi’s other super-hot alpha male series, the
McKenzie Brothers, was thrown in the book and weaved into the storyline as
well. I loved it!
Each book
has a HEA and is about a different couple, but always includes some storyline
from the story before. The best kinds of series….I do love it!! We were left
with a juicy intro to the next story for Donovan and Mara, coming in 2014; Sultry. It was a very intriguing intro and
it makes you want more!! Forbidden romances are very intriguing. I, for one,
cannot wait to read about Donovan and Mara. <3
