Synopsis:
Thalia is twenty-one and has just finished her sophomore year of college. Her new boyfriend, Liam, invites her to spend the summer with him and his family, so as she’s been unable to find a local job to keep her at college, Thalia jumps at the chance. Liam tells her that she can be his guest at his brother, Jack’s, wedding at the end of the summer.
Jack is twenty-five and feels as though he’s drowning. He’s engaged to Mia, against his will, because it’s always been drilled into him, family comes first. Jack’s studying for a law degree, and wants to go out on his own once he graduates, specialising in criminal law. His father wants him to accept a junior partnership in the law firm owned jointly by him and Lewis, his fiancées father, to practice family law.
Then he meets his brother’s girlfriend, Thalia, and he can’t get her out of his head. He needs her to keep her distance, because every time she smiles in his direction, he wants to carry her to his room and do really naughty things to her.
Then Saturday night arrives and Liam takes Thalia to a new bar that has opened on the outskirts of town, where she discovers Jack’s big secret. By day he’s the good looking, slightly older brother with a chip on his shoulder, who gives her hot looks, and by night he’s Phoenix, singer/guitar player for bad boy group ‘Deception’, who makes her sizzle to the core!
He has muscle. He has tattoos. He has piercings. He has a mouth that makes her panties wet every time he opens it. He is supposed to be getting married. He is also her boyfriend’s brother...

I sat down to read this as I was packing up my house to sell it….I figured it would be one that I could start and put down and come back to it in between boxes. Little did I know that I wouldn’t be able to PUT IT DOWN!! I couldn’t stop reading it! The twists…the turns…the changes in POV, it was all great! It was seamless and easy to read. Where to start…..where to start!!?
Thalia goes with Liam to his family home for the summer off from college, before her senior year starts. There, she meets and ends up falling for Jack, Liam’s brother. The attraction and pull that Thalia has for Jack, is very much reciprocated by Jack. He’s a good man with a great head on his shoulders who is studying to be a lawyer, and rocks out with his band on the weekends. He can’t seem to get enough of her, but is pulled away constantly by his morals and his obligations…..but his love and need for her is undeniable. We go through the trials and tribulations of an intense love and the ‘bothers’ of our “responsibilities”. Chance meetings, ‘almost’ kisses and brushes against the skin….we know the electricity that’s felt between the two of them, it’s undeniable.
“Standing so close to him, my whole body felt hot and tight, my breasts ached, my stomach quivered and all I wanted was to wrap myself around him.”
“He dropped to his knees and didn’t give me time to get used to him; his tongue and mouth assaulted me with a thunderbolt of pleasure. I thought I was going to shake apart.”
They try to work through all the obstacles thrown at them and even try spending time apart to work through them, but with Thalia constantly on his mind and vice versa, they don’t make it very far without each other. The story gets thrown a few twists, and you start to see it fall together. There were even parts I certainly did NOT see coming, and it made me shake my head and feel anger at one of the characters, who I did NOT think was involved in anything!! I felt that I got to take the ride with them….I felt the emotions, I felt the elation and the heartache…and I felt the ‘release’ when they did.
Lexi can write a good and very dirty love scene, and it is written very well. I smiled in anticipation at all the stolen moments they had….I really did enjoy this book. I don’t want to give too much away, because it is a great read…..a total page turner!! And I would like to meet Jack….I might want to lick him. <3
Great job Lexi, and thanks for a great book!! I can’t wait for January 2014 for the next book in this series. This is a standalone that is part of a series…..with its own HEA.
I rate this book a very steamy 4.5 stars.
