Book Review: Night Fever (Night Fever Serial #1) by Jessica Hawkins

Night Fever
Author: Jessica Hawkins
Genre: Contemporary/Erotica, Serial
~ SYNOPSIS ~
Lola Winters’ heart already belongs to Johnny, but for him, she’d sell the devil her soul. Unfortunately, the devil wants something else.

Beau Olivier is the kind of wealthy that buys anything—even people. When he makes Lola a proposition, she finds herself tempted into a seduction that will have her walking the line between comfort and humiliation, desire and resistance. He would own her—for one night. She would be his—for a price. It was wrong. It was scandalous. It was the opportunity of a lifetime.

Sex, music, neon on the Sunset Strip—right in the middle of it all, he would have her. Come sunrise, he would let her go. At least, that was the plan.

This book made me say *WOW* and then I felt relief that I only have to wait 1 week for the next part to be released. I love Jessica Hawkins....her ability to spin angst amazes me. I love angst. I NEED angst in a good book. It makes me so excited. True angst...not made up drama. And that is what this book had for me!! I love that she was able to make me love and hate the SAME character, mere sentences apart!!!

Lola and Johnny are in love....and they have been together for years. It's a simple love. An honest love that is just moving along, day to day. No excitement, no drama, they just.......live. I almost (allllmost) want to say that it is a stagnant love, a comfortable love. It doesn't appear they are moving in any discernible direction.

Beau happens to come into their 'home' and (*bites finger, smiles and looks up to the left*) HE made me swoon. He has charisma. He has style. He has taste. He has that certain something that makes you want to giggle and live in your own little happy world (with him)! He pretty much walked in and eff'd with Lola's comfort level. I loved reading about the draw, the pull, they had towards each other. But Lola made sure he knew that she was with Johnny and was happy where she was. She wasn't looking to change anything and her life was happy just the way she was living it.

"So I'm wrong then," Beau said. He stood far enough from her that their conversation wouldn't have appeared intimate. But each time he spoke, it was as if he removed another layer of her clothing, and now she was too close to being exposed. "I'm wrong that this attraction is one-sided?"

But it seems that Beau is feeling something for Lola....and he is willing to pay to explore that 'something' with her. I admit this sounded a little "Indecent Proposal-ish" to me, but the more I read, the more I fell in love with this story. It really is a story that I couldn't put down. I read it all in one sitting as it's only a serial novella, but I didn't want it to end!! I wanted more of Beau and Lola. I loved the way he talked to her, the way he handled her and the way he made her feel....even though she tried 'not' to feel it. UGH!! I need moooooore!!!

The idea of being consumed by Beau did scare Lola, but it excited her more.

Jessica has this ability to make you fall in love with the other guy.....just like she did in The Cityscape Series. It was my favorite series of 2013 so I knew going into this one that she was going to make me crave another man....again. This book was so sexy and alive! So demanding and sensual! I love Jessica. <--I said it. I am very anxious to pick up the next book in this serial and will devour it just as quickly as I did this one. I. Need. More.
