Garrett Andrews has controlled every aspect of his life for as long as he can remember…

Garrett is determined to win her back, obsessing over her care in an attempt to heal both her body and her mind. He will go to any lengths to earn back her trust and teach her to let go of the past, but can he follow his own advice and let down his own walls?
They struggle to overcome their issues and soon Chase is after her again, fixated on staking his “claim” with a startling revelation that links both the past and present. Can they find happiness with each other or is their too much to overcome?

A
Learning Series by Cynthia P. O’Neill includes three books: Learning to Trust, Learning to Let Go, and Learning
to Love Again. Since I read them all at once (one right after the other), I
will review all three books as a whole. This will be a series review.
“I
don’t know what it is about you, but I’ve never found someone that entices me
as much as you. You excite both my mind and my body.”
Laurel
was about to graduate from MIT and she wanted nothing more than to find a job
and move far away. She wanted to escape the nightmare that haunted her, the
awful memory of what had happened. She wanted to move forward and forget Chase.
One
fateful morning, as she was working on her final project, a very mysterious man,
Garrett Andrews, saw Laurel. Besides being impressed by her incredible project,
he was even more captivated by her.
And that’s when fate stepped in and everything changed for Laurel. She got
offered a job in Florida where she ended up moving with her cousin and best
friend, Grace.
Garrett
couldn’t seem to stay away from Laurel, so he decided to act on his feelings
and pursue her. It wasn’t much of a chase, mind you, since Laurel had been
completely smitten with him, but she still had her fears and hesitations
because of her past. She had trouble trusting people, especially men, but
decided to put that behind her and give their relationship a go.
“Do
you trust me?”
Things
between Garrett and Laurel got HOT…fast. Garrett was very much an alpha male in
and outside the bedroom. He was very
protective of Laurel especially after finding out about her past. They developed
feelings for each other rather quickly and while that usually isn’t a problem
for me, I found myself lacking a connection to them in this book. However, that
didn’t stop me from reading. Towards the end of Learning to Trust, we got thrown a curve ball which I kind of saw coming, but not completely.
Suffice it to say, it increased my interest in the general storyline. I
absolutely love it when romance books have suspense in them.
“He
feels responsible for what happened.”
Book
two, Learning to Let Go, picked up
exactly where book one ended. Here, we got taken through a journey of recovery, in more ways than one. We
also got to see more about Garrett’s past and his inner demons that drove him
on a daily basis. There was more suspense in this book which was a major plus
for me. I had a hard time getting into this series, but during book two, I got
hooked. The mystery and secrets kept me reading and wanting to see what would
happen.
Garrett
and Laurel’s relationship got tested more than once and in many ways they both
grew individually and as a couple. They faced several of their fears which in
the end only made them stronger. Learning
to Let Go ended in a great place, but in one you just knew there was more
to their story.
“When
you find your forever, there’s no reason to continue looking.”
In
Learning to Love Again we got even more
secrets and surprises revealed along the way. It was actually a great conclusion
to Garett and Laurel’s story, one that kept my interest intact. They both had
gone through so much that it was like a breath of fresh air seeing everything
come full circle.
I
recommend this series to any reader that loves a steamy and sexy romance with a
plot full of drama and suspense. I am rating A Learning Series 4 stars because
while I had a hard time getting into it, I ended up enjoying it. This, to me,
is a series that got better by the book.
“I’d
finally learned to love again and I owed it all to my forever love, Laurel.”
~ Cynthia P. O'Neill ~
I grew up in a small town in South Florida called Clewiston and moved to Central Florida to attend college. I married my friend, love, and soul mate and still reside in the area with our amazing son, and a feisty, four-legged little doggie boy.
In my books, I draw on my background in healthcare, business, and science, along with my husband's engineering and wireless technology knowledge.
I currently write on all levels of Romance. The Learning Series is for those who like a little more steam with their books, falling into the categories of Contemporary and verging on Erotica, with a hint of Suspense. The Remembrance Series encompasses Young Adult, with a touch of Paranormal activity and a hint of Historical romance. A new contemporary romance series is underway, called Need. It will be different than the others, because each book will focus on a new couple, while all of the characters will still have a large presence throughout the series.
I try to make my writing very personal and close to her heart. Regular life is the inspiration for my books, but I'm only limited by imagination taking ideas to new heights, opening up possibilities that would normally not exist.
On a more personal note...I love to cook and create in the kitchen and on the bbq grill. I sometimes lose myself in a song at the piano. I often sing with my son while we are driving or making dinner together. I enjoy crafts (flower arranging, making wreaths, painting pottery, needle point and drawing in pencil and charcoals). My music tastes are eclectic at best, ranging from classical piano to hard rock/heavy metal. It all depends on the song, group, and if it has a good beat or is a soulful ballad.
