Book Review: 'Catch Me' by Katherine Grant

CATCH ME
Come Closer Series, Book One
Genre: Adult Contemporary Romance (Suspense)
SYNOPSIS:
Adam. Enigmatic. Arrogant. Unwilling to take no for an answer. Everything about him threatens my carefully constructed life. Everything about him makes me want him more.

Isabelle Jennings has it good. She’s a self-proclaimed guys’ girl (football, beers, and kicking back with her “bros”) who has worked hard for everything she’s gotten. And she’s succeeded. Only twenty-six, she already has a startup company – one that helps her atone for past sins. She has (well, had) a healthy sex life, a great apartment and an even better group of friends. No romantic entanglements. No mess. Just how she likes it.

Enter Adam Weston, a young, ambitious businessman in Chicago. Between his money, looks, and charm, he’s never had a problem with women. Until Isabelle.

Overwhelmed by her attraction to him, Isabelle does everything she can to avoid the charismatic playboy. But Adam won’t give up that easily. He dares her to be with him, promising sex sans strings.

Isabelle’s burdened with a nightmarish guilt she can’t outrun. And Adam won’t settle for less than everything. He’s breaking down her walls, one touch, one look, at a time.

**Due to language and strong sexual content, this book is recommended for readers who are 18 and older.**

REVIEW:
4.5 - 5 Stars

What an intriguing Prologue!!! Katherine Grant hooked me from page ONE. I wanted…no, scratch that, I needed to know what happened. This was a true page turner for me. Loved it. Great debut novel!

“You can run as far, as fast, as hard as you want. It won’t matter. Your demons are always one step behind.”

Isabelle Jennings had a traumatic past. One that could break and haunt anyone. And one that didn’t exactly stay in the past, but rather threatened her present and future. Isabelle had very high and strong walls around her heart. She didn’t let anyone in. She didn’t do relationships because she knew they could get messy….really messy. So she kept her heart closed off. She stayed safe.  Isabelle was athletic (loved running), independent, and successful at what she did. She had her own business with her best friends and were in the process of expanding their services. It seemed everything was working it for her. Seemed.

Adam. An alpha male in every sense of the word. Protective, possessive, dominant, and YUMMY. He was super successful and the type of man that worked hard for what he wanted…he never took no for an answer. Gosh, I LOVED Adam. He had a sexy and cocky attitude that kept me wanting more and more.

“I’m making you my business, even though I have a feeling you may not be very good for me.”

Adam wanted Isabelle, so he went for her. There was only so much she could do to not give into him. It was one of those things in life that was just inevitable. But of course, Isabelle’s past prevented her from fully giving him her heart. There were a few times throughout the book where I wanted to smack her……hard. But also, there were times where I felt for her. After experiencing the horrible things she had gone through, I imagine I’d have issue with even thinking of being in another relationship. So I got it. And Adam finally caught her.

“I can’t keep away from you. And I won’t apologize for it.”

A lot happens throughout this book. A lot. So, I won’t ruin it for you by going into the details, but trust me, Catch Me was a fantastic read. It had suspense that kept me turning the pages, HOT and passionate scenes, a swoon-worthy romance, and an intriguing storyline. The secondary characters – Will, James, and Malcom -- were amazing too! Seriously, great, great, GREAT debut novel. I recommend you grab your copy today. Adam and Isabelle are a couple you have to meet! I can’t wait for Will’s book!!!!

“I’ll always take care of you, kid. I promise.”

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Katherine Grant

Katherine Grant is a 28-year-old reader, writer, and author in Southern California (who likes to talk about herself in the third person in bios because it makes her feel important). Raised in a town in Michigan so small you've never heard of it, Katie used books as a way to travel. As a child, she talked so much that her family suggested she started writing her thoughts down. And thus, a lifelong dream and career was born. She has been everything from a short-order cook to a teacher to a music journalist. She's finally embarking on being a novelist full time, and she couldn't be more excited.

When not hard at work, Katie enjoys hanging out with her dog, lying on the beach, promising herself she'll one day learn how to surf (although it will never happen), making her boyfriend crazy by refusing to do the dishes, and getting lost in books. Also, cookies. She really, really likes cookies.
