Clay's Quest
Hawk Point Series #3
SYNOPSIS:
She’ll do anything to get her way.
Tall, elegant and beautiful, Emma Thorpe has wanted a baby for years. The yearning for a child occupies all her thought, her time, her effort, and any money she and her husband can scrape up for medical intervention. After trying and failing to conceive, the solution that finally comes to her is to leave her husband and hope to find a man—any man—capable of fulfilling her deepest desire.
Big, handsome Clay Thorpe isn’t the kind of man to let his wife just wander away. It takes a few months of Emma’s absence from his bed to devise a plan, but he’s determined. Eventually, Clay lures Emma home with a convoluted strategy only he could concoct, involving an antique diamond ring, sex three times a day, and...a turkey baster?
Caution: This is a work of fiction. Please don’t attempt duplicating Clay’s methods!
REVIEW:
4.5 Stars
Short, fun, sexy, and truly enjoyable. Once again, Christi Williams kept me fully entertained with yet another installment in the Hawk Point Series. I honestly love how she takes real-life situations and incorporates them into her story lines. She balances out perfectly the harshness of these situations with a dose of fiction, to the point that you are able to fully dive into her books and escape.
In the first book we got to see the difficult reality of falling in love while being a single mom. In book two, we saw the effects that cancer can have on a marriage. Now, in this third installment, we got to see how having infertility problems can take a toll on a marriage...how it can cause a couple to fall apart, but just as well bring them closer. You see, in every book, Christi Williams provides us swoon-worthy male lead characters that don't give up on their women. That don't give up on the love of their lives. And that is just the same in Clay's Quest.
Clay Thorpe loved his wife, Emma. He treasured her. Unfortunately, he could not keep her from suffering a heart break month after month. They had been trying to conceive a baby for some time, and after spending a lot of money, the results were still not in their favor. Not being able to take any more of their heartbreaking situation, Emma left. And that didn't sit well with Clay...so he devised a plan. He was getting her back one way or another.
Clay's plan was....unique. Most definitely fun and...ahem, sexy. Let's just say, I would NOT mind one bit going along with that plan. And the results? Oh, be still me heart! It just showed how much he really adored Emma and just how far he was willing to go to give her the happy ending they both deserved.
Seeing Clay and Emma get back together, learn to trust each other again, and get even closer the second time around, was heartwarming. Clay was a swoon-worthy man on a mission and his dominant side had me fanning myself. He didn't stop until he and Emma got what they wanted the most...a family. And THAT made my heart smile.
All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed Clay's Quest and cannot wait to see what Christi Williams has up her sleeve. If you're looking for a perfect weekend read, this is the book for you!
