Blog Tour: Darker Water by Lauren Stewart

Author: Lauren Stewart
Series: Once and Forever

~ SYNOPSIS ~
After another painful breakup, Laney Temple finally understands that love is a fairy tale and sex rarely comes with a happy ending. She's too busy for it right now anyway--she has a business to run, art to create, and candy to crush. Eventually she'll be ready to switch from her plastic-or-silicon lover to a flesh-and-blood one. But before that happens, she needs to be sure she won't feel any of those annoying emotions that make her heart do things it wasn't meant to do...

Like break

Carson Bennett is completely upfront about what he wants, and it has nothing to do with Laney's heart. Her lips? Hell yeah. Other parts of her body? You better fucking believe it. But her heart? Nope, not even a little. Until it does...a lot. But having feelings for someone isn't allowed. It's the kind of thing you're supposed to push down deep and cover up with one-night stands, sarcasm, and booze...

Like secrets

Two people want the same thing--a commitment to nothing more than great sex in a bunch of different positions. Simple. Enjoyable. A win-win. Problem is, those two people have families and fears and pain that spill into every moment of their lives, control what they do and who they are. And if either Carson or Laney can't free themselves from the past, they'll both be pulled under by it.

~5 Hilarious Stars~

This was my first book by Lauren Stewart and she said this one wasn't her 'normal' kind of book....it was a dare. Well, geez. I will read anything that she puts out that isn't her 'normal' kind of book!! This book had me giggling and snickering late into the night and I couldn't put it down!!! This book flowed effortlessly. It was perfect.

Carson and Laney, both, are super smart-asses and I couldn't get enough of their hilarious antics. I cannot recommend this book enough.

When you have a woman that is pissed off and done with all the frogs in the world....you get Laney.
When you have a man that is sexy as sin, but too damaged to want a relationship....you get Carson.
When you put these two together, you laugh your ass off. Seriously.

~This officially sits on my 2014 Favorites list for Romantic Comedy.~

This book had me rolling! I wish I could show you my face when I say THIS BOOK WAS FUNNY. Not to distract you from the insanely sexy times these two had together, but seriously; to fight against something so naturally easy going must take work! Their relationship had some toe-curling, lip-biting sexiness to it. Do not mistake that.

There was comedy.
There was angst.
There was funny.
There was insanely sexy time.
There was hilarity.
There was some drama.
There was laughter.

It. Was. Funny. As. Heck!

So, I'm sure you're catching what I'm throwing. This book, while super sexy and very witty, was funny. Like, seriously....top favorite funny of 2014-really. Lauren has a way with words.....the banter, the wittiness, the...the....AACK!! I can't explain it!!! It was great.

Ok...I need to really tell you how I feel about this (funny) book. These two people meet and you start laughing-really, I'm serious. And then, when they start hanging around together and they start messing around as 'friends', only to realize that they indeed do have feelings for each other, the internal debate going back and forth in their minds is legit. You can really relate to what is going on in Laney's mind, and you feel just absolutely horrified for what is going on in Carson's mind. While I read this book, I was amazed at how much I felt like I was swept up in the storyline myself. Me. There. Myself.

You never walk away from someone just once. Sure, the big dramatic one is important, but it's all the little ones before and after that really matter. Walking out a door and slamming it behind you is easy. Getting someone out of your mind and your soul... That's the hard part.

ONE thing that stuck out the most (besides how funny it was, Bethany? Yes!! Besides that!), was the actual buildup to this relationship. I honestly thought that stuck out the most and it was my favorite part about this book. I loved it. Absolutely, hands down.....one of my favorites, because it was an amazing buildup. Sooo good.

There is a teensy-weensy bit of drama at the end (well, sorta serious stuff there) that I had a hard time connecting with/dealing with....but, in all seriousness, the actual story folded together really well. I have already recommended this book numerous times and will continue to do so. It is worth it. Laughter and all. Seriously. I mean it. It's funny. I would never lie about something so important. Honest.
Read. This. Book.

“Let me guess,” I said. “You’re different from every other guy, searching for the one woman who will complete you. You’re considerate, caring, and really want a chance to know who I truly am.”

“Not at all,” he said, ticking the points off with his fingers and grimacing. “Definitely not. Dear god no. That’s not even close to what I want from you. And…was that all of them? I got distracted by your breasts for a little while there, so I may have missed one.”

I coughed, covering my mouth before I spit my coffee out. “Seriously?” In the last few months I’d had a lot of similar conversations with moderately similar guys. But not a single one had an answer even remotely like that.

“Seriously. I’m a complete asshole who only cares about what he can get from someone. Take you, for example. I saw you sitting here alone, no ring, great body. And thought, ‘I want to fuck her.’ And yeah, those were the exact words that went through my head. On the way over here I tried to figure out the fastest and most efficient way to get you into my bed—which isn't far from here, by the way—hoping you weren't the type who needed a couple dinners out first. So, Lane”—he popped an eyebrow—“are you?”
