Review:
3 Stars!

Goodbye Girl is a dual POV book…I love seeing both sides to a story. It’s a short book, roughly 153 pages (according to Amazon) and so the story is a very quick, accelerated love story. We don’t get to dive deep into much, and it’s pretty straight forward, but there was some serious love built into this little book. There was some drama that was really quickly resolved, but the tension was there for Clint and his family as well.

The beginning of the book has Rachel running away…..she is running from her past and
needs to get away. Her life depended on it. Rachel ends up in a tiny town in Wyoming and sees Clint sitting in a diner….and boy, was he a sight. He was just gorgeous. They both traded glances back and forth for a bit until Clint was getting ready to leave; that is when he walked over to meet her and invite her out to his ranch for a job. He liked what he saw, something drew him to her. His mom used to tell him he’d know when the right woman came along….he would just “know”. He never believed her, but by the time he was home, he couldn’t get Rachel out of his mind….she consumed his thoughts.

Eventually, the right person would come.
I couldn’t shake the feeling that I’d just run into the right person. ~Clint

When Rachel shows up the next day to accept the job, this is where the intensity heightens. Clint isn’t himself and his family notices how he is with her….and seemingly, her with him. Rachel is openly accepted by Clint’s family: Eliza is his younger sister, Wyatt is his younger brother, and Mary is his mom. By the time Rachel and Clint have been working around each other for a day or two, they end up going out to the bar with some friends and family….out to have a good time. The attraction between Rachel and Clint is undeniable and they finally act on it, with the insistence of Eliza! Mr. Clint is a bit of an alpha….he proves it when he takes her to his room:

I’m going to take off your clothes and do things to you that will make you blush when you think about it tomorrow. I plan to tease you until you beg me to stop but you know what? I’m not going to. I’m going to keep going until I make you pass out with pleasure. ~Clint

Now these two have some feelings running between them and we see this continue to grow. The emotions between them are deep and intense. When they were together intimately, sparks flew! The way he cared for her and the way he made love to her….you just knew that he loved her.

It wasn’t just the physical part though.  When Clint was inside of me, it seemed like he was touching my soul. I’d only known him a short while, but we had this amazing connection. ~Rachel

When Rachel’s past catches up to her, some serious drama unfolds and the sheriff has to get involved. There wasn’t a lot of angst in this book; nothing nail-biting, but it’s a twist in the story that I could see coming…..ONLY because Rachel is STUBBORN.  The fallout and the ending were super sweet and it actually gets you ready for Wyatt’s book that is due out this month, January 2014 (according to the review copy I got).

I rate this book/novella 3 stars.

Love,
Bethany
