3.5-4 stars

Soooo……this book was a very different, but very intriguing book!! It was a really good story, premise wise; however, I had a really hard time with the grammar and sentence structure. I am normally a stickler with this, but after I realized this was her style, I was able to move on and just read the story for what it was….a really good story. I was sucked in from the get go and found myself not wanting to put the book down! This was my very first Alessandra Torre book….and I look forward to reading more from her. Her descriptions are vivid and her storytelling ability is great!

So, behind this story is another story and there is a very fine line that I can’t cross before I’m telling you too much. I don’t like spoilers, so I will try to explain it as best I can.

Was it a good story? Totally!
Was it sexy? Hell yes!
Was it hot? Oh yeah!
Does the story take you for a ride? Most definitely so!
Was it easy to figure out the ‘twist’…..sadly, yes.

Now framing it around that, I really enjoyed the story part of it. We got to meet Brant first, and he is the epitome of the perfect man. Brant was insanely sexy and he knew it. Layana saw this sex appeal upon meeting him for the first time….and knew that he would provide a fun night. And fun they had!!

I’d spent two minutes in his presence and my body had had about nine spikes of arousal.

He was everything I didn't expect. Quietly confident. Unassuming. Gorgeous. Intense interest that didn't play games. ~Layana

This book was seriously hot….the sexiness factor raised the book rating for me, honestly. I will admit a few spots really confused me and I had to go back and re-read a few times, but I could totally get immersed in the story. I had a hard time connecting with the characters individually, but as couples I was able to connect. That was a weird feeling to me. When Brant and Layana were together, the love was powerful and sensual, but when Lee and Layana were together, it was gritty and primal. Brant was so loving and took care of her over and above himself. He was a very unselfish lover….a very sensual, loving and caring lover. He could curl your toes! Lee was a selfish, no nonsense, take you by the hips and give it to you kinda lover, and that was HOT!!! I truly enjoyed the 'release' Layana got with Lee.

“This was what every woman was looking for. A mouth that responded hungrily yet tenderly when kissed.” ~Layana

“I didn't love Lee. I loved Brant. Lee was a….distraction. A distraction that fucked me as if he was created to do it. A distraction that gave me another side of life, away from the finery, a side of life filled with impulse and fun. A distraction that I needed to keep the seesaw of my relationship with Brant level."

Two different men. Two different styles. Two different sides to love….both sides necessary to complete the love that Layana needs. Each man gave her something the other couldn't give her. For that side of the story….I truly enjoyed it, because some of my favorite books are love triangles. It made it more deep and heartbreaking, all in one.

I got a little teary eyed at the end when Layana had to make a very difficult decision… that I don’t think, given the circumstance, I would have been able to make. That just made it that much more heartfelt….I was able to ‘feel’ that emotion from her. The love between all three was not one to be discounted. At all.

Read the story….it’s worth the ride.

“I have lied for this man, stole for him, cheated on him with him, and sold my soul to his with our first kiss.” ~Layana
