Book Review: Finding Master Right by Sparrow Beckett

Title: Finding Master Right
Author: Sparrow Beckett
~ SYNOPSIS ~

Dominant, crop-wielding men are all Kate dreams about, but how far is she willing to go?

Kate wants a man who will take charge—she just needs to find the right guy. Fortunately, her friend is throwing a kinky Halloween party with a guest list loaded with sexy, available men. That’s where she meets Banner.

Dark and intense, Banner’s not just a Dominant, he’s a Master looking for a slave. Kate isn’t interested in something that extreme, but when he offers to help her find the perfect Dom, while training her to be a flawless submissive, she’s glad to have a matchmaker and protector.

Banner knows they’re not compatible, yet something about Kate is impossible to resist. Once he finds her the right Dom, will he be able let her go?

~4 HOT AND STEAMY STARS~
Ok, this book came HIGHLY recommended to me by another blogger friend, and I have to say....I was skeptical at first. I have always trusted her recommendations, but with this type of subject matter, it can go either way. This is a NEW author(s) to me, so I was slightly cautious going in. I love these kinds of books (who doesn't love hot dominant men??), but I limit the BDSM now because quite a few have not been researched enough or explained well enough and I end up DNF'ing them.  While this one started out a tad rough around the edges, I was pleasantly surprised by the ending.

First and foremost, the scenes between Kate and Banner are so very hot.
SO.
Very.
HOT.
My gosh.....seriously, I was squirmy. Banner was all things MAN. All. Things. OMG. I need to take a minute to explain to you how perfect Banner was. When they played, he was so commanding of her emotions and always took care of her. She's hot. He's hot. They work SO well with each other. Banner knew what he wanted, what he needed, in a submissive, but what he found in Kate wasn't what he thought he needed. He had his own set of rules that he wanted, and Kate didn't want to live by those rules or that lifestyle. So, he let her go.....<collective gasp>. I wanted to shake him!! FIGHT FOR YOUR WOMAN!! But that wasn't Banner. He was too much of a gentleman to feel like he was forcing a woman to do what she didn't think she wanted. For a man to do for the one he loves, selflessly and with a pure heart, is an amazing thing. Banner is an amazing man. <swoon> UH-Mazing. He made this book as good as it was. I fell in love with him. He was strong. He was strict. He was all business.
With a pure heart.

And Kate....she is definitely something else. Sadly, her character is the reason I couldn't give a higher rating. Now, PLEASE don't discount this book because of this, but allow me explain. Kate was this feminist that wanted to be a submissive. Yes....you would think those don't work well together, and they didn't in the beginning for a couple of reasons:
◆ She thought she wanted this lifestyle, but wasn't willing to give in.
◆ She was overly bratty. More than normal.
◆ I felt she was slightly inconsiderate of the lifestyle for wanting to be in it so bad.
◆ She almost played off the brattiness with a flippant attitude, and that made me roll my eyes.
I KNOW she was new and trying to get into the kink community, but she was over the top annoying in some parts. Some, not all. Some scenes she naturally flourished in and glowed. It was interesting to see her grow through this book.

Now having said that, the feelings in the book between the characters were pretty spot on in some parts. Some parts, Kate was overly whiney. Some parts, she was confident and strong. These character traits warred with each other a lot in this book and some of it was maddening, but others allowed me to put myself in her shoes and question myself how I'd feel or react. I really wanted to see it from her POV and understand that this was new for her. Once the story started to play on, Kate had a realization that she needed all things Banner. This realization hit like a 2-ton brick...and that was a good thing to see play out.  Their relationship worked for so many reasons, and I loved seeing how it ended.

There is some good drama in this book where Kate gets to really shine. There are some loving parts where this brick wall of a man gets to soften and grow within his character. There was some unnecessary (long drawn out) sequences/scenes/side-character discussions and sometimes repetitive parts, but overall it worked really well.  I can recommend this book easily and will. I am very very VERY anxious to read the next book in the series. It comes out October 20th. Not long!!! I am a new fan and will follow this new author(s) and read what they put out next....easily. They have a good grasp on sexy.
So HOT.
So GOOD.
So SEXY.
<insert Cheshire Cat grin here>
