Blog Tour: Locke by Harper Sloan

LOCKE
Author: Harper Sloan
~ SYNOPSIS ~
Darkness is the only thing I see. Ever since the day my life changed. The day that everything and everyone I held close to me ceased to exist. The day I lost it all and the demons of my past consumed my every waking moment.

I tried to keep others at arm’s length. Tried not to let my darkness taint them. Ruin them. Harm them. And whether I want to admit it or not, as much as I wish I could keep them locked out, they refuse to leave. Refuse to let me suffer alone.

If I hadn't been so focused on keeping those demons from flying free, I wouldn't have missed how one perfect angel was able to sneak her way under my skin—refusing to let go. Making me want things I don’t deserve.

She consumes me. Her beauty knows no end. The love she promises tempts me every time she’s near. But that pure heart that makes her MY Emmy is the one thing I’m convinced I’ll destroy if I ever let her close.

I’m a broken man. A broken man with too much darkness in his soul to ever let her light shine upon me. But even that doesn’t stop me from craving her with every single breath in my body.

~ 5 Stars ~

***PLEASE READ the other books in this series before starting this book. These MUST be read in order***
So, I’ve been looking forward to Locke’s book since his mysterious temper flared in Axel’s book. He was this person that was always there, always making sure everyone else was taken care of and all wrongs were righted. He was the silent one, the one that quietly ensured that peace and order was around their ‘family’. The protector. The strong one. The guardian of the family.

Well, hollleeee shiiiiit. Maddox was all that and a lot more. We always saw a deeper side to him, a more complex and meaningful side to him…..but he never let his guard down. And if he did, he quickly covered that up. Well, this book was the be all and end all to the questions that surrounded Maddox Locke. And it was a magnificent, but agonizing ride to take with him and Emmy.

Mysterious men are common magnets for me because there was something that hurt them; something that damaged them and made them put up these impenetrable walls that no one could get through. Even the ones that made their heart beat. Made the sunshine a little brighter. Made them smile on the inside….but no one got to witness that. Emersyn was just that person for Maddox….but to see him fight that dominant need for her heart and her love was powerful and intense, but oh so heartbreaking. She was a temptation for him and he fought it with everything he had.

Since day one, she’s been the greatest temptation, but I refused to take everything innocent that is Emmy and let my blackness take her. Because that’s what will happen. It will wrap around her soul and slowly choke the life out of her.
I’ll taint her. I’ll ruin her. And in the end, it will destroy her. ~Maddox

Maddox was her ‘one’ and she was his ‘one’. When Emmy ran, Maddox needed to get her. He would still fight his feelings because that is what Maddox does, until something happened. Something harrowing and painful, but the journey we got to watch as their love unfolded and came to light was a beautiful dance of give and take.  And sass…..LOTS of sass.

Emmy had a very rough childhood and that continued on into her adult life. She was a fighter and a strong woman, one that made me shake my head. The things she went through and the things she made it through, I can’t even imagine….scratch that, I don’t even want to imagine.

We all have our battles. We get past them the best we can by putting one foot in front of the other. Looking back doesn’t do anything but make it hurt a little more. ~Emmy

Maddox’s fight for the love he feels, yet is afraid to let happen, is a meaningful exploration of what the emotion of love can actually do to you. He was faced with the reality of losing the ONE person that truly made him feel….that made him feel alive. He wanted to love her, but he was still so afraid—the evil had been embedded into him very deep. It was so sad to see and watch as he fought with himself about letting his guard down, but so rewarding when he finally realized what her love could do to him. I felt those emotions and my eyes teared up quite a few times. Harper really draws you into the emotion of the situation and makes you feel it….she immerses you in the scenario and you just ache right along with Maddox and Emmy.

“I hate you,” she whimpers weakly against my lips.
“You fucking love me, woman,” I declare before crashing my mouth to hers and giving her a bruising kiss.

Let me tell you, when they come together after strong and passionate arguments and verbal battles, the explosion of emotions is just WOW. They are so hot together….their love is so uncontrollable and frenzied that you just feel the NEED for them to be together. They are soooo meant to be together…..it was pretty intense and HOT. I had to put my iPad down a few times and walk away because the angst was so intense and the drama that was unfolding had me up and pacing. I had to do something. Maddox was very dominant and OMG, it.was.hot. He was so sexy and demanding and alpha to the core. It makes me squirm just thinking about it!!! UGH!! I want mooooooooooore!!!!!

I’m burning to take her how I’ve been craving. To control her body. To claim her soul. To make her mine. ~Locke

This book was THE PERFECT ending to this series….on many levels, but mostly because the magnificence that is Locke was finally explained and I was so glad to see how it all finally finished. This was easily a 5* read for me….and one entire series that I highly recommend over and over again.

“You’re the angel that my demons beg to make fall. The pureness and light that my darkness wants to extinguish.” ~Locke

**This is the final book in the Corps Security series. This book is not suitable for younger readers. There is strong language, adult situations, and some violence.*

~ HARPER SLOAN ~

Harper Sloan lives in small town Georgia just a short drive from her hometown of Peachtree City. She (and her 3 daughters) enjoy ruling the house they dubbed 'Estrogen Ocean', much to her husbands chagrin. Harper has a borderline unhealthy obsession with books; you can almost ALWAYS find her with her eReader attached. She enjoys bad reality TV and cheesy romantic flicks. Her favorite kind of hero--the super alpha kind!

Harper started using writing as a way to unwind when the house went to sleep at night; and with a house full of crazy it was the perfect way to just relax. It didn't take long before a head full of very demanding alphas would stop at nothing to have their story told.
