BEAUTIFUL MISTAKE b Vi Keeland #BookReview

BEAUTIFUL MISTAKE
by Vi Keeland

The first time I met Caine West was in a bar.

He noticed me looking his way and mistakenly read my scowling as checking him out.

When he attempted to talk to me, I set him straight—telling him what I thought of his lying, cheating, egomaniacal ass.

You see, the gorgeous jerk had wined and dined my best friend--smooth talking her into his bed, all along failing to mention that he was married.

He deserved every bit of my tongue-lashing and more for what he'd done.

Especially when that lazy smile graced his perfect face in response to my rant.

Only it turned out, the man I'd just told off wasn't the right guy.

Oops. My mistake.

Embarrassed, I slunk out without an apology.

I was never going to see the handsome stranger again anyway, right?

That’s what I thought…until I walked into class the next morning.

Well, hello Professor West, I’m your new teaching assistant.

I’ll be working under you…figuratively speaking.

REVIEW: 5 STARS
If you know me by now then you know I am obsessed with Vi Keeland's writing. There is absolutely nothing she can write that I will not love. Heck, I would most likely even enjoy her groceries list! True story.

Now, about this amazing novel. If you've read any of Vi's other books, then you more or less know what vibe to expect. Well, this book had a different tone, in my opinion. Not bad at all, just different. It actually took me by surprise...in the best way possible, of course! This book was in ways darker than most of her stories (in that it dealt with darker subjects).

I was so intrigued and captivated that I did not want to stop reading. There was an underlying situation unravelling that I knew what it was, but I was desperate to see the effects it would have on the characters who, as always, had a sizzling chemistry! Cain and Rachel were truly the perfect match. They balanced each other out perfectly! If there's one thing I love about Vi's writing is how she develops her characters perfectly! I love seeing them grow as individuals and together.

As ALWAYS, this book was a solid FIVE-STAR read for me. Vi Keeland honestly never ceases to amaze the crap out of me with her writing!

“The Waves of Love Can Make You Sick”

A Reckless Series Spin-off
A Romantic Comedy

Memphis Love knows three things.

Money
Sex
Women

As long as it has a pond for him to dip his pole into, he’s game, and he doesn’t stick to just one pond for his fishing trips either.

The small, beach town he lives in doesn’t offer much for job opportunities or at least lucrative ones. He relies on his body, the pole, and stage. Oh, and the after hour clients.

Iris, his best after hour customer, takes him on a yearly cruise with her friends. He’s there for one purpose and one purpose only…their boy toy.

Memphis is no fool. A two week, all paid cruise to soak up the sun and sights is a no brainer. Only thing is he didn’t expect a little ray of sunshine on the ship this year. Raylan Moore has the power to rattle everything he once believed.

The doctor is in; he’s willing, able and ready to please. Dr. Love has the cure to your Love Sick (offset in a different font) blues, only this time maybe he’s the one needing the healing.

Funny and sexy, LOVE SICK is a Romantic Comedy you don't want to miss!

Memphis is one of those c**ky hot guys that thought he had everything he needed in life. He was happy, getting richer by the day, and well, the ladies were not an issue for him at all. Suffice it to say the last thing he wanted or even expected was to meet Raylan while on the job with Iris and her friends. And trust me, you will HATE Iris!

Raylan was looking to let go and finally relax with her friends. Her job had her stressed out enough so that last thing she wanted was to meet a guy. And not just any guy, but THE guy!

Life has a funny way of working out for these two! To say their journey started off rocky would be an understatement. Like I mentioned above, you will hate Iris!

Honestly, this book was a treat to read! It had funny, sexy, and even angsty moments! Memphis is a guy that you will end up falling in love with! And Raylan? Well, you'll just root for her from the very beginning! FIVE STARS!

EXCERPT:
Memphis Love

I lie back in the lounger, finding the perfect snooze zone again while soaking up the rays. Then I hear it. The hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. Every single inch of my body is on alert. I sit right back up, pulling down my Ray-Bans on the bridge of my nose.

I smile.

I smile like the victor of Titty Mania 2017. Give me the belt, bitches. Hand it right over. She didn’t fall into my lap this time. Nope, it’s so much sweeter because I spot her before she attacks.

Raylan. She's standing at the bar fifty feet away. Her head is thrown back in laughter. A damn fruity drink is in her hand. Her girls at her side are making her laugh at something. It’s a lingering suspicion, but I know Raylan is never this carefree. The edge of a hot tub is feet away. It’s not her clumsiness I’m studying, but what she’s wearing.

Or should I say what she’s not wearing? That scrappy piece is a poor excuse for a damn top. I know what’s under it or at least half of it. She has one of those fancy, see through skirts tied around her lower half. The knot is settled nicely on her hip.

It would take one nip of my teeth to undo it. Fuck, I wouldn’t have to take her bikini bottoms off to taste her. I bet she’s as sweet as those damn drinks she loves.

“Daddy, antennae.”

I peer over to the voice ready to glare at the bastard interrupting my daydream, hot shower research supplying spank bank material. But it’s a little boy pointing right at me.

“That man has Wi-Fi.”

I squint my eyes trying to put together what the hell is going. He begins racing over to me chanting Wi-Fi.

I peer down to see if the little bandit is planning to nab any of my personal items. Kids these damn days are too smart for their good. It’s then I see the Wi-Fi. Spandex and a raging cock are not the right combination and a clear signal for Wi-Fi according to young children. The size of my engorged dick could guide astronauts home from Jupiter.

What has this clumsy girl done to me? I’m a global threat at this point. Draining my remaining drink, I find the perfect excuse to stride right over to the bar where the group of girls are still chatting it up. Hell, Raylan doesn’t notice all the men checking her out. Her friend, Brenna, has at least double Ds and I’d bet my left nut they’re fake. She’s the type the majority of men magnetize to, but not with Raylan next to her. Josi, I’m pretty sure that was her name, is also a knockout with fake assets and plump injected lips. But it’s none of that which attracts me.

The fuck? I don’t remember any female names, and here I’m studying Raylan and her friends like a first rate stalker. I saddle up to the bar, blocking the group of dickheads drinking in Raylan. My size and width get the job done.

“Another, hun?” the busty bartender asks.

I keep up the smolder showdown giving it to her smooth. “Please, darlin’.”

That does the trick. I hear one of the girls squeal. I know it’s not Raylan but not sure which one it is.

“Raylan.” I hear a loud skin slap, but I don’t look, pretending to eye down the bartender. “It’s him.”

Another voice joins. “It is Raylan. Holy shit, he’s on the cruise.”

Hook, line, and sinker.

“Who?” Raylan asks. Hell, her voice erects the Eiffel Tower in a matter of seconds.

“I’d say nipple gate 2017, but it was more of Tit Show Gate 2017 live and in action.”

There’s an audible gasp. I can feel her gaze soaking up the front view leaning on the bar. My elbow is propped on the smooth wood and my face is in the direction of the back shelf with my legs crossed at the ankles. Most men would flex their muscles right now, putting them in the douche category permanently. I remain calm, playing to ignore the conversation.

I’m betting today they’ve had a few to drink since their voices are not a whisper when they think they are.

“You were right about his wiener. It was not your imagination.”

I stifle laughter at that one.

“Don’t say wiener; we aren’t ten years old anymore.”

“I told you it was huge.”

And there’s my cue. I stand slowly, paying attention to each move of my body, grab my drink from the bar, and make eye contact. They react as suspected, ducking their heads and blushing like fools.

REVIEW: 5 STARS
Dark, twisted, and completely captivating, Shades and Shadows is one hell of a rollercoaster ride! Oh, my goodness!! This is one of those books that will make you cringe while reading, and while you're terrified to know just what might happen next, you can't stop turning the pages!

The emotions were raw and brilliantly developed throughout the book. Getting a glimpse of how Nicolette and Anderson think was creepy yet enthralling, cover to cover. Feeling the sense of panic Anderson lived with on a daily basis made me anxious! It was comforting seeing how some people cared enough to be there for him, though. I also found the newspaper "thing" both characters did to be a very cool and quite clever detail!

Honestly, this book is a journey. A journey you must take on your own without knowing much about the plot so you understand how brilliantly well it was written. Go do yourself a favor and grab your copy! It's not an easy, sweet read, though! It's dark and horrifying at times. FIVE STARS.

REVIEW: 5 STARS
This was my first book by this author and it will NOT be my last! The emotions were raw and had my heart aching for Cole and Everly, I found myself turning the pages non-stop, needing to know how the plot would unfold. And let me tell you, I was not disappointed! Amie Knight developed the story line very well and at a pace that kept me intrigued the entire time. It was emotionally captivating and moving!

If you are a fan of steamy, second-chance romances, especially if they include one hunk of a cowboy, then THE LINE is a must-read for sure! LOVED the ending SO, SO, SO much!! Everything came full circle in the best way possible!

Amie Knight has been a reader for as long as she could remember and a romance lover since she could get her hands on her momma's books. A dedicated wife and mother with a love of music and makeup, she won’t ever be seen leaving the house without her eyebrows and eyelashes done just right. When she isn't reading and writing, you can catch her jamming out in the car with her two kids to '90s R&B, country, and showtunes. REVIEW: 5 STARS
FINALLY, I am able to sit down and write this review!! Gosh, I finished this book what seems ages ago and I was not able to share it with you guys! Sheesh! Talk about life getting in the way!

Anyway...
This series keeps getting better and better! Seriously. Problems and situations seem to be getting more emotional and I am LOVING it. From the other two books in this series, I knew Jesse and Jamie Lynn had a past together, so I was curious to learn just what had happened that caused them to part ways when they so clearly loved each other.

Jamie Lynn had her fair share of issues that made her who she was now. She was a bit closed off but she had her reasons. Very valid reasons. And Jesse? Well, his story was a bit heart-breaking. When both main characters are broken, there is a lot of room for emotional angst and if you've been reading my blog for some time now, then you know that makes me super happy!

In order to move forward, Jesse and Jamie Lynn had to overcome a lot of insecurities and outside forces that were standing in the way of their own happily ever after. The road there was very interesting, angsty, sexy, and it had my full attention the entire time.

Now, to say I want the next book would be an understatement. It will be Rocco's book and I am beyond intrigued! You see, AJ Renee sure loves teasing her readers!

The class was completely empty. I wasn’t even sure he knew I was still in my seat. If he did, he was good at ignoring me as he packed up his laptop.

“Contrary to the rumors you’ve probably heard, I don’t bite.”

I jumped when he spoke. Now that the lecture hall was no longer filled with students, the acoustics of the large space bounced his deep voice all over the walls.

I stood and began my walk of shame down to the front of the classroom. There was no doubt I owed the man an apology, even if he wasn’t a professor—a professor who would be my new boss for at least the next fifteen weeks. I wanted to kick myself in the ass for not apologizing last night before I left the bar. Now it would seem like I was only doing it because of the situation I was in.

Which was true, don’t get me wrong, but I didn’t want it to seem that way.

I took a deep breath. “I’m so sorry about last night.”

His face was unreadable. “I figured you might be, right about now.”

“I obviously thought you were someone else.”

“So I assumed. You thought I was the asshole. The one with the big dick, was it?”

I shut my eyes. For the last ninety minutes, I’d replayed the entire exchange from last night over and over in my head. I thought I’d remembered everything I said, but apparently I hadn’t. When I reopened my eyes, Professor West was still watching me. His stare was pretty damn intense.

I started to babble. “My friend Ava went out with this guy Owen for a month or so. He was full of shit from day one, but she didn’t see it. Actually walked up to her when she was leaving work one night and said, ‘Do you mind if I walk you home? My mother always told me to follow my dreams.’ She fell for it, the entire act, from the first day. Then one Saturday, he was supposedly out of town on business, and she was across town running errands for her mother. She took a shortcut through Madison Square Park on her way back from the grocery store and ran into him. He was with his wife and kids.”

“And you thought I was him, apparently?”

I nodded. “She came in during my shift and started drinking Long Island iced teas. When Owen walked in, she pointed to where he was standing and said he was the one in the blue shirt.”

“And we were both wearing blue shirts, I take it?”

I couldn’t help but smile, thinking of Ava last night. “Actually, no. Ava’s not much of a drinker. Turned out she was more sloshed than I thought. Owen’s shirt was brown—not even black that could be mistaken as navy or something.”

I saw Professor West’s lip twitch.

“Anyway, I’m really sorry. I barely gave you a chance to speak, and then when I realized what had happened, I was so mortified I didn’t even stop to apologize.”

“I accept your apology for last night. Even though you shouldn’t be approaching a man in the hallway to tell him off alone, your intentions were admirable.”

I should have shut up and been grateful he’d accepted my apology. Should have. “Why can’t I approach a man in the hallway?”

He leveled me with a stare. “Because you’re five foot nothing in a loud bar, and no one would have heard you if I’d dragged you into the men’s room and locked the door.”

I folded my arms over my chest. “I can take care of myself.”

“I didn’t say you couldn’t. I said you shouldn’t put yourself in those situations.”

“But you insinuated that I couldn’t by making that statement.”

He zipped his leather bag closed. “Ms. Martin, I just accepted your apology for calling me an asshole last night. Would you like me to retract that acceptance?”

God, I really was an idiot. Being around this man seemed to turn me into a psychopath. “No. I’m sorry. I acted like a jerk, and I’d like to start over, if that’s possible.”

He nodded. “Everything prior to this morning is forgotten.”

“Thank you.”

“But this morning is not. I won’t accept lateness. Don’t let it happen again.”

I swallowed. “It won’t.”

He lifted his worn, brown leather laptop bag over one shoulder. “Meet me here at five tomorrow. We’ll go over the syllabus and the classes you’ll teach, as well as my grading rubric.”

That was smack in the middle of my shift, but I’d figure something out. “Okay.”

“Are you done for the day?”

“I am. I actually have to get to work. I’m covering Ava’s shift because she isn’t feeling too well after last night. We both work at O’Leary’s.”

“You waitress there?”

“Waitress, bartend, occasionally tell off patrons.”

That earned me a full smile from Professor West. God, he should do that more often. No, forget that. He definitely shouldn’t.

“I’ll walk out with you.”

We walked through the halls together and out to the parking lot. When we arrived at my car, I stopped. “This is me. So…five o’clock tomorrow?”

Professor West looked at my beat-up old Subaru. “You’re parked in a spot reserved for the Provost. You got a parking ticket.” He squinted. “Actually, it looks like you have two parking tickets. Was your inspection expired or something?”

Crap. “Umm…no. I keep an extra ticket in the glove compartment and stick it on my windshield when I’m forced to park illegally.”

His brows shot up. “Inventive.”

“Obviously it doesn’t always work.”

“Obviously.”

“They need more parking. When you’re late, it’s impossible to find a spot.”

He studied me. “Lateness is a frequent occurrence for you, I take it?”

“Unfortunately, it is.”

“Then I should clarify something I said earlier.”

“Oh, no, that’s not necessary. I won’t be late for your class.”

He took a step closer and leaned in. “I’m glad to hear that, Ms. Martin. But that’s not what needs clarification.”

I swallowed. God, he smells good.

“Earlier I told you I didn’t bite students.” He smiled, and I felt the wickedness from it shoot down to some interesting places. “I don’t. But I make no promises about not biting feisty TAs.”

★★★★

We hope you enjoyed this extended preview!

I, Kaelin Richards, am paying for college by alternative means. Operating under the name Untouched Mystique, I webcast myself getting off.

I blame my bastard father. At nineteen, he gave me three options:
1. Get a degree of his choosing and give him half of my earnings for life
2. Marry his friend’s son and become a subservient wife
3. Get out with only the clothes on my back

You guessed it! I walked. Now my life is simple and low-key…until my roommate, Trent, is attacked, leading me to discover his brother isVan Meyers—the classmate I adore, the new CEO of the company I’m interning for, and the online client that sends my body soaring with pleasure. He’s the only person who has the power to save me from my crazed fan, but can I trust Van to protect me without breaking my heart?

All I want is to be elusive, to live my dreams and not lose my heart in the process.

EXCERPT:
I know he’d explained why he was drawn to me.  We shared so many likes and dislikes that it was almost scary.  I mean who has that much in common with another person.  Wasn’t the old expression that opposites attract?  So why did it feel as if we were one person, merely split in half and finally having found the other half of our missing soul where we could both breathe again?  And why couldn’t I just let my guard down and be happy for once?
Staring into Van’s crystal blue eyes felt like diving into the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico.  It felt like home, and it scared me.  I watched as his eyes traveled down my body to the hand I still held between my thighs.  A small smile played on his lips as realization hit him.  “Are you like me, angel?  When you’re stressed, you need to surrender your anxieties out to the universe with a sexual release.”
I nodded, but then shed a few tears I didn’t think I still had.  “It’s been days since I’ve come.  I know I’m wound up tighter than a guitar string ready to break, which isn’t allowing me to get there.”
Van kissed my forehead and pulled me against his shoulder as he rocked us on the floor of the shower.  His voice lowered, taking on the seductive tone he always used as DaLuvMaster online; the tone that always drove me to the edge of reason and made me climax harder than I’d ever done in my life.  “I think I know why, darling.  It’s come to the point that I need you in order to get off, and I think you need me too.  We’ve been there for each other over the internet, guiding one another to the height of sensual pleasure; a pleasure only each of us could give to the other.”
He hastily changed the topic, asking, “Have you washed yet?”
I shook my head wondering where this was going and knowing I looked flummoxed by his question.  He moved me off of his lap and stood, offering his hand to assist me.  I tried to cover myself, but he grabbed me under the arms, which exposed my body to him as he lifted me to my feet.  His tone was soft, yet stern.  “I don’t want you to ever cover yourself around me, angel.”
I looked down at the shower floor, not wanting to meet his eyes, but he forced me to look at him anyway.  “You’re more beautiful than a Greek goddess.”  I blushed while looking anywhere except directly at him.  He moved his head around until my eyes finally locked on his. “Besides, I’ve seen you naked countless times over the last nine months.  I’ve memorized every inch of your glorious curves.  My only regret is that I’ve never felt those curves until now.”
I started to speak, but he shook his head and placed a finger over my lips.  “I don’t want you talking, not just yet.  I’d like your permission to help you bathe, and in return, you can do the same for me.  We’ve already used up a lot of water; it would be shameful to waste anymore, when we could just shower together.”
Van looked quizzically at me.  “Is that okay with you?”  I nodded in agreement, but feared what it would do to me to feel his hands washing my body.
He walked me back into the stream of water and guided my head back so my hair got completely wet.  I closed my eyes and enjoyed the feel of the water cascading down my body.  I jumped when I felt his hands start to work my lavender scented shampoo into my hair.  “Your hair is so soft.  I love the feel of its texture.  I can imagine it wrapped…”  His words trailed off, and I could feel his manhood stir underneath his soaked boxers as he moved close to rinse my hair.
“Why don’t you remove your boxers?”  I wondered.
He stood back from me a bit.  “I don’t want to scare you.  You’re naïve, to a point, about sex.  Have you seen a cock?”
I blushed a bit.  He was right; I hadn’t seen one in person before, other than his brother’s and only by accident, but I wouldn’t admit it.  “I’ve seen them online.”  His eyebrows quirked with amusement, so I figured I’d better explain.  “My roommate in the dorms was addicted to watching free porn.  She watched almost anything and everything from masturbation to the physical act of sex.  That was her way of relieving stress and what ultimately gave me the idea of doing my webcast.  She became so addicted to it that she started paying to watch the films, not being satisfied with the free clips.”
Trying to hold back a laugh, he bit his lip.  “What?”  I wondered.
Van shook his head.  “It’s nothing, Kaelin.  I always wondered how you got into this.  I would’ve never guessed it was from an example set by another student.”
Stepping back, he lowered his fingers into his waistband and slowly worked the water-laden briefs off his body.  I was mesmerized the moment his cock sprung free from its confines.  My eyes were bulging at the sheer size of him.  I’d seen men with huge pieces online, but this put all those guys to shame.  I caught myself reaching out to touch it, but then realized what I was doing and stepped back.
Grabbing my hand, Van guided me to him.  “It won’t bite, love, not unless I tell it to.”  He laughed.  The bastard.  “Go on, touch it.  You won’t hurt me unless you grip it too hard. Besides, I do expect to get to wash every inch of your body, and I want the same in return, including my cock.”
His hand rested over mine as he pulled me to his manhood.  It was standing strong and proud, curving up toward his belly.  He was huge.  I’d heard people call a penis a rod, but his cock didn’t feel like hard metal; instead, it felt soft to the touch, but hardened underneath the silky texture of skin.  I was shocked to see he was clean-shaven, just as I was down there.  I’d been told I should remove the hair because that’s what men wanted.  Actually, it’s what Van told me in the beginning of my webcast.  “Men desire their women clean-shaven so they can see their pussy dripping with the juices of desire.  It also provides more sensitivity to the man and woman during oral sex.”
I ran my hand down the length of his shaft and marveled at the feel, when his cock twitched in my hand, causing me to jump.  After a few more caresses, it began to grow in my hand, and his hips starting to thrust ever so slightly as a moan escaped his lips.
He pulled back abruptly and spun me around.  His breath was uneven, his voice throaty, “Enough, love.  I can’t take the feel of your touch; it’s too tempting.  If you keep this up, I’ll want more than what you can give me.”  He leaned forward, placing a kiss on my neck just below my ear.  “If you tempt me any further, I’ll need to take you against this shower wall.  I wish for your first time to be special, Kaelin, and would like it to be memorable for you, for both of us.  I yearn to be not only the first man to climb inside you, taking your virtue, but the only man to ever know how it feels to have those walls clamped around my dick as I take you to heaven and beyond in sexual bliss.”
