Cover Reveal: Topping the Alpha by Samantha Cole

Title: Topping the Alpha
Author: Samantha Cole
Series: Trident Security, book 4
Trident Security operative, Jake Donovan, has been a member of the BDSM lifestyle since his teenage years. Starting as a submissive, he eventually became a Dom, but a brutal incident, years ago, changed Jake's life forever. Unable to shake the ghosts of his past, Jake avoided giving his heart to anyone for sixteen years. Until Nick.

Navy SEAL, Nick Sawyer, knew it was probably a bad idea to get involved with his brothers' friend and employee, but there was something about Jake that drew him in. While his brothers also owned a private BDSM club, The Covenant, Nick never understood what attracted people to the lifestyle. He had nothing against it, but it just wasn't for him. Until Jake.

An old missing person's case has Jake running to rescue a teenage girl and Nick volunteers to watch his back. But when things go awry, Jake must confront his past, before he can ever think about a that, hopefully, includes Nick.

I am a retired policewoman and former paramedic who has started my third career as an author. I have lived in the suburbs of NYC all my life. I'm planning on becoming a 'snow-bird' soon and splitting my time between New York and Florida. My two dogs keep me company and remind their 'mom' to take a break from writing every once in a while and go for a walk, of course with them in tow.

I've been an avid reader all my life and was often found with one or two books in my hand as a child (yes, I was reading two books at the same time!) After being gifted with a stack of romance novels from my grandmother, my love of the genre began in my teens and blossomed further in adulthood. I am continuing to work on the Trident Security series and also have a few stand-alone books planned as well.

SCATTERED ASHES by @AnnieAnde - #BlogTour + #GIVEAWAY

SCATTERED ASHES by Annie Anderson
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Aurelia Constantine is having a rough century.
Plagued by visions of murder, death and destruction, she has resigned herself to the nightmare her life has become. When an enemy from her past comes to her rescue, she must let go of old wounds and heal the breach so she may survive the evil poisoning her mind.

Rhys Stevens is guilty.
Murder. Betrayal. Treason. Take your pick; he’s guilty of them all. On the path of redemption, he must beg for forgiveness from the one person he fought to save - the woman he has always loved.

Thrown together in the trenches of war, they must work as a team to stop a monstrous puppet master from pulling their strings.

Ashes, ashes. We all fall down.
Get ready to burn.

I groan as I open the car door and pull my body to standing. I rub my eyes, so happy I ditched the contacts and shake out my legs before going to the trunk to pull out my go-bag. Every vehicle I own (even the boat and four-wheelers) has a small duffel bag stashed somewhere in them. They contain cash, clothes, one day of rations (beef jerky and a flask of Jameson, don’t give me too much credit), and a new identity.

The identity I probably won’t need just yet, but I do need the set of clothes. My suit jacket was lost to some poor male patron with a gut shot, and my pants and shirt are ruined by some lady’s blood and the remnants of what I did to Thad during his interrogation. I feel guilty for not using the Morganite knife and killing him for real since I know he’ll heal in the next couple of days. My only solace is that it will take a few days to regrow his whole fucking head.

I knew I shouldn’t have gone to my stupid exhibit. I swear it’s the last time I let Evan talk me into anything.

I mean it this time.

Rhys has been quiet most of the drive, and it’s a blessing because I have no idea what to say to him. But it’s a curse as well due to the barbed guilt running through my veins. I’ve spent little time with him that hasn’t included me trying to rip him limb from limb, so a conversation might be impossible. I’m also a little disturbed having him so close hasn’t been the hardship I thought it would be. He’s been quiet, considerate, and he pumped the gas when we stopped because me getting out of the car would have caused a stir.

We both get out of the car and walk to the trunk, which I’ve popped with the key fob.

“You want me to carry that?” he asks, chivalrously reaching past me to lift my duffel out of the trunk. The bastard. I really wish he’d cooperate and be an asshole so I could hate him appropriately. I grind my teeth together in an attempt to avoid screaming and give a jerky nod, letting him take the bag. It takes some effort, but I gently close my trunk, careful not to hurt my baby even though I want to smash something.

I stride towards the front door behind Rhys, vigilantly trying not to stomp my feet and pout like a Goddamn toddler. My anger only grows when I notice how fucking spectacular he looks in a suit. Holy shit balls. He’s easily six foot three, maybe taller. I’m five-three on a good day, so he’s at least an entire foot taller than me. The crisp dark charcoal gray suit emphasizes the wideness of his shoulders and the line of his body as it flows from his strong neck to his lean waist and tight ass. People I hate are not supposed to be this fucking hot in a suit.

Book Tour: The Fall Up by Aly Martinez

Title: The Fall Up
Author: Aly Martinez
I wanted to jump.

He made me fall.

As a celebrity, I lived in the public eye, but somewhere along the way, I’d lost myself in the spotlight.

Until he found me.

Sam Rivers was a gorgeous, tattooed stranger who saved my life with nothing more than a simple conversation.

But we were both standing on that bridge for a reason the night we met. The secrets of our pasts brought us together—and then tore us apart.

Could we find a reason to hold on as life constantly pulled us down?

Or maybe there’s only one direction to go when two people fall in love at rock bottom—up.

 ~5 Stars~
Where do you start with a book that stopped you in your tracks and made you think about the unexplainable? The sad side of life? The hurt and pain we don't 'see'? All the while, including some seriously sexy-time, an actual story with very real drama and happiness and an HEA?

The Fall Up was that book. This book is so remarkable for so many reasons. One of the most important reasons is that it puts a very real name and face to suicide. I realize it's a book, and they aren't real characters.....but the situation was real, the love was real and the problem IS real.

This is NOT a downer book by any means. Not at all. This is a phenomenal story of a couple that met by FATE and were there for each other when needed. Their relationship was founded on similar problems bringing them to the same spot....which turned into a necessary ritual. It was grounded on trust and respect, above ALL else, not even taking into consideration who Levee was.  I loved Sam.....he is the quintessential man. He is honest....sometimes to a fault. He is thoughtful. He is caring. He has alpha tendencies (yes, please!!). And last, but not least, he can take care of his woman. Haha!

This story was a beautiful telling of how life can pick you up, let you down, stress you out and pick you right back up again. The gamut of emotions I got to feel while reading this story was noteworthy. No, I didn't wasn't that type of book. It was, however, the type that made me seriously think....look beyond my own misconceptions (certainly not intentional) about suicide and the many reasons for why it happens. It opened doors. It provided meaningful thought and it started conversations with not only my book friends, but my husband and kids. I think it was a great handling of a sticky subject that does NOT get enough airtime and help in our overstressed, under-calmed (my word!!) world.

~There isn't a woman in the world who doesn't have demons of some sort. No matter who I end up with, it's always going to be a struggle." I kissed her hair again, letting it linger as if my lips were able to transfer the truth of my worlds. "Levee, I'd like to struggle with you."~

I am so in love with Sam. He is so perfect!! I highly recommend this book to anyone wanting a thoughtful, discussion provoking, sexy and wonderfully written book. Well done, Aly!! Well done.
*An ARC was provided in exchange for an honest review*

“Thank fuck!” Sam said, swinging the door open before Devon even had the car in park.

“Oh, this isn’t my place. We’re just dropping Devon off. I’m about twenty minutes across town?” I tossed him a sugary smile then boldly shifted my hand into his lap, purposely brushing the bulge under his denim.

Grabbing my wrist, he narrowed his eyes and called out, “Devon, I’m gonna need to borrow a bedroom.”

I burst out laughing as Devon cursed loudly.

“Fine. This is my place. No smoking inside though,” I snipped as I climbed from the SUV.

“You better have some seriously exciting extracurricular activities to keep me distracted, then.”

“I have Ping-Pong!”

“Not exactly what I was thinking.” He mischievously cocked his head. “But I guess paddles and balls are as good a start as any.” Dipping down, he hoisted me over his shoulder. “Point me to the PingPong table, my lady.”

I didn’t. I laughed hysterically as he carried me inside. Then I directed him to my bedroom instead.

I heard Devon locking up the house as Sam deposited me on the bed.

“Jesus. This view.” He pushed the curtains back. “Why the hell would you ever go up to the bridge when you have this here?”

“I don’t know,” I answered, pulling my earrings off and placing them on my nightstand.

Oh, but I knew. It might not have been what had originally sent me up that bridge, but it was why my feet carried me back every night. And that very reason was currently standing in front of me with entirely too much clothing on.

“You want a beer?” I asked, sliding my shoes off.

“Nah, I’m good.” He faced me, and I could tell something was off with his demeanor. He didn’t inch any closer. Instead, his lips were tight and his eyes uncomfortably flashed around the room.

It suddenly didn’t feel like Sam standing in front of me at all.

He felt like a stranger who had just come facetoface with Levee Williams.

Damn it.

“Why are you looking at me like that? Are you about to freak out?” I whispered, nervously moistening my lips.

He shoved his hands into his pockets. “I’m not really sure yet. But I’m gonna need you to stop licking your lips long enough for me to figure it out.” His mouth cracked into a wide grin, and my shoulders relaxed.

Now that was a flash of my Sam.

“Want to tell me what’s going on?” I asked.

“It’s just... I think this is the first time I’ve realized that you’re some big time celebrity. I might be in over my head here, Designer Shoes.”

“I just make music, Sam.” I returned his smile and very slowly prowled in his direction. “Imagine how I feel though. You’re Samuel Nathan Rivers. A tough, tattooed furniture designer who makes six figures a year but is too afraid to tell his mommy he votes democratic.” I giggled as he frowned humorously. Stopping in front of him, I dragged a fingernail down his chest then teased the waistband of his jeans. “Have you considered that maybe I’m the one who’s in over her head here?”

I leaned forward to nip at his lips, but he spun us around.

“Excellent point. I’m going to need you to try really hard to keep it together, Levee. You haven’t even seen my sixpack and huge cock, yet.” He smirked and attempted to return my nip, but I stepped out of his reach.

“You brought beer and chicken?” I feigned excitement.

That one corny joke was all it took to bring my Sam back completely.

With a sexy smile and a coy shrug, he seductively backed me toward the bed.

“What can I say? I like to be prepared.”

“Clearly,” I breathed.

He moved in close so his lips were only a centimeter away, but for as much as I wanted him, it was agonizing. “Clearly,” he repeated, his smoky yet sweet breath breezing across my mouth.

His strong arm looped around my waist, tugging me against his chest, while I stared into his hooded eyes, eagerly waiting for him to make a move.

Any move.

Every move.

THE SHADOW excerpt for Halloween

“I think all this deep conversation is because of the view,” she blurted out. “The beauty of the city makes people reflect on life and time and secret desires.”

William chuckled and pressed a kiss to her temple. “What do you desire, little bird?”

“The steadfast love of a good man.”

His arm about her tightened. “I am not a good man. I’m not a man at all. But I love you and my love is certainly steadfast.”

She closed her eyes and leaned against him.

“I admire you.” He spoke into her hair.

“Because you’re principled and you hold fast to those principles even when it’s difficult. You’re noble.”

“I feel awkward and overwhelmed more than anything.”

“That is not how you appear to me.” He lifted her chin. “Knowing what I know about your character and your heart, I’ve never seen anyone more beautiful.”

Gabriel's Inferno:
Gabriel's Rapture:
Gabriel's Redemption:

I'm interested in the way literature can help us explore aspects of the human condition - particularly suffering, sex, love, faith, and redemption. My favourite stories are those in which a character takes a journey, either a physical journey to a new and exciting place, or a personal journey in which he or she learns something about himself/herself.

I'm also interested in how aesthetic elements such as art, architecture, and music can be used to tell a story or to illuminate the traits of a particular character. In my writing, I combine all of these elements with the themes of redemption, forgiveness, and the transformative power of goodness.

I try to use my platform as an author to raise awareness about the following charities: Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep Foundation, WorldVision, Alex's Lemonade Stand, and Covenant House. For more information, see my Twitter account.
